November 16, 2010 Dear <insert name>, On behalf of the Peel HIV/AIDS Network (PHAN), I am writing to invite you to participate in this year’s World AIDS Day event by joining us for dinner and an arts-based experiential evening where we will witness, participate and remember as a community where ‘Hope Does Living’. This event will take place December 1st, 2010 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the beautiful Cawthra Estates (1503 Cawthra Road, Mississauga). PHAN is the only organization in the Region of Peel that is committed to serving people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Through support, education, advocacy, and volunteerism, PHAN aims to limit the spread of HIV/AIDS. Within Canada, Ontario has the highest number of positive HIV test reports with a total of 29,787 since 1985. In addition, 36,630 Ontarians have been infected with HIV, while 9,670 have died since 2008. This event will give you the opportunity to reflect on the implications of HIV and how people can individually and collectively respond to the epidemic by listening, participating, and reflecting on the experiences of people living with and affected by HIV. World AIDS Day is now internationally recognized as a day when individuals and organizations from around the world come together to bring attention to the global HIV and AIDS epidemic. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to take action on calling for universal treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. It is also used to promote awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS. We would greatly appreciate it if you would promote this event to your constituents and honor us with your presence at this year’s event. If you have any questions pertaining to the event, please do not hesitate to call Berkha Gupta at (905) 361-0523 x 211 or email her at email@example.com. As well, please contact her if you would like flyers and/or posters for the event.
