hello ! I’m beril coĹ&#x;kun.

It is an exciting process for me to find ideas that meet people's physical and emotional needs and transform those ideas into a product. When it comes to detailing the product and solving its problems, I think it is the most satisfying aspect of being a designer. Apart from product design; I like to explore new places, meet new people, look at the world with camera lens, cinema & theater, and draw with different techniques.

research process

_there is no individual working place_ initial research:

problem definition:

First step: defining problem One week, I observed relationship between students and objects in different areas in campus. Also I talked with students to learn which problem they have about campus life. After that, whole informations collected and evaluated with details.

This area is D terrace Flex-i in BAU BeĹ&#x;iktaĹ&#x; Campus. Flex-i is organized for studying. Most of students complain about same problem; there is no individual working place. When one student want to study, s/he use table for 4 person.

Students should arrange their own working areas for their individual or group workings.


ideation

Every time I found a form for desk, I developed form when considering balance of table, user scenario and material: solid wood. Sketches were research of which problem I can solve and can I get seperate desks together as one object. Form of table legs and different side use were some problems of the modular kind of desks.


quick models & mock-ups Besides that form and structure, the different kind of combinations was evaluated with 3D model making. Final design was completed with consedering function of leg structure, material usage and user experience research.

The table should have strong and safe structure. At the same time, the legs should not disturb students. Shape of table should give chance students to make different combinations. Also tables can be useable in different sides.

comfort details: Students can hang their bag to hanger placed under the table. Also table leg structure is designed considering footrest. Modular desk is compatible with using different sides of table.

The desk has two different unit; right and left. It enable students to make different group desk There are lots of useful combinations that students can arrange theirselves.

Also the desk seperated two triangles with colors. The advantages of that to make more defined shape with triangles and to create differences between sides for helping user to arrange combinations.

research process

_usable one tool for sewing_

The aim of this product is to get sewing tools together and offering useable one tool for people who interest sewing. This research about which tools user need and which tools can be suitable for getting together.

According to hierarchy of tools, suitable mechanical movements and proportions; it selected five functional tool: thread snip, mini ruler, threader, seam ripper and pen.


ideation

The design difficulty is bringing together different functions and making one useful object. Every tool should answer their purpose truely and easly. Also, when defining details and arrange the functions, it is important to think materials and production methods.

mock-up & model Making mock-ups is to try different alternatives and functions. Also cover design practise for close seam ripper and pen.

Making mock-ups for to test structure of hanger how I build strong enough. Design decision was related with unity of object, hanger function, connection details and making possible to disassamble.

Target group is; High-income families who use smart technologies regularly and who want seem to be stylish and exclusive with a baby stroller. Also parents who wants to use baby stroller with minimum force. (Mentis is for 6-24 month babies)

initial sketches

This stroller should have smart features, therefore it should be looked “smart�. With the help of moodboard and technological research; sketching started. Folding method, form and weight of main body and handle were important for organizing electronical devices adapted to stroller.


first model & process _function & form decisions_


The baby stroller should be smart, safe, easy foldable and producible. I designed stroller while considering about that notions. First designs were heavy and less usefull detailed. I developped that ideas though user charasteristics, functions and form.


details Baby seat is extractable. It has locking detail on the seat and on the profiles.

Under the handle bar, there is a pair of button for unlock to folding system. Parents can fold the stroller easly without crouching.
