TOUR OF CAMBRIDGESHIRE
BENWICK IN BLOOM by Jill Hindle
Could this be the goal for your New Year’s resolution?
Benwick in Bloom hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
This is quite some time away still, but as many of us want to become more sporty this year, why not join this year’s Tour of Cambridgeshire Cycling Event?
We begin our programme for 2018 entering Benwick into the Anglia in Bloom Annual Competition once again. After having been inspired with the Nursery Schools fabulous achievement and our Silver Gilt Certificate we look forward to see what this year brings.
The event will be held on Sunday, 3rd of June 2018. There will be several races, even a “ToC Family Fondo” where kids get a medal for finishing. The “Mellow Vélo Ride” is offering two distances, 79miles (127km) or 56mile (90km). As usual, we can expect road closures, but never mind, it is the sport, that counts!
We need to complete our Poppy Project as this year sees the final centenary of WW1 The Great War.
So drag your bicycle out, give it a good wash, and off you go. Only 140-ish days left to get fit.
More Poppies are required to complete this project please, already we have had a very good response to our plea, everyone who crocheted and knitted to make the wonderful display a remarkable achievement for the village in Remembrance to all the fallen in conflict. We should never forget. If you need a pattern please contact Benwick in Bloom.
Welcome to the New Year and to the new Benwick Bugle edition!
