Hamilton’s on Magnolia 174 E. Magnolia Ave. Auburn, Ala. 36830 Hours of Operation: 11 to 2p.m and 5 to 10 p.m.

• Hamilton’s on Magnolia opened

in 2000. The original owners were Jim Parker and Alan O’Dell. The new owners, George Spence and Jim Parker are brother-in-laws making Hamilton’s a family owned business. • The restaurant closed for 10 months and reopened on Oct. 29, 2009.

Patrick Martin Gallagher Hamilton’s Head Chef

Gallagher’s popular fried green tomato and shrimp appetizer was recently featured in an article by the Los Angeles Times and in the book “101 Best Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die”.Gallagher recipe for this appetizer includes using a Japanese style tempura batter tocook the classical southern dish.
