Rusty McKinney

Chris Carroll

Linebackers/Special Teams 2nd season In his second year as a member of the Bentley University coaching staff is Rusty McKinney, a 2002 graduate of Towson University. His responsibilities include coaching the linebackers and serving as special teams coordinator. A native of Fairfax County, Va., McKinney played four years of football at Towson. As a senior, he served as team captain and was the recipient of the Doc Minnegan Award as the team MVP. McKinney garnered second-team All-Patriot League honors in both 2000 and 2001. McKinney moved into college coaching in 2008, serving as a linebacker coach at Saint Anselm College. Since graduating from Towson, he has also served as an assistant speed and agility trainer, working with Olympic gold medalist Dennis Mitchell. McKinney has a wealth of community service and volunteer work, volunteering at a number of track meets and road races, as well as at the John Hopkins Children’s Hospital and Villa Maria School for Troubled Children. McKinney, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Towson, also earned an Associates in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales in 2004. He now resides in Somerville.

Sean Walsh

Running Backs 4th season Sean Walsh, a Bentley assistant during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, returned to the Falcon coaching staff in the spring of 2009. His responsibilities include coaching the running backs, and overseeing operations, academics and travel. Walsh, a 2008 graduate of Florida International University, has been a student assistant coach at the University of Miami (2005, 2006) and was an academic liaison to the football and baseball programs during the 2007-08 academic year.While at Miami, he coached in both the 2005 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl and the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl. Walsh’s resume also includes five years as an assistant football coach at Attleboro High School. He was also a two-time Attleboro SunChronicle Boy’s Tennis Coach of the Year while at Attleboro. Walsh, 36, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida International in 2008 and was inducted into the Phi Betta Kappa Honor Society. An Attleboro native, he now resides in Waltham with his wife, Melissa.

Asst. Defensive Backs 1st season Former Bentley standout safety Chris Carroll has joined the Falcon coaching staff this season as an assistant defensive backs coach. Carroll was named to the New England Football Writers Division II-III AllStar team following the 2009 season after leading the Northeast-10 Conference in interceptions for the second straight year. He was also third nationally in Division II in interceptions, averaging 0.80 per game. The three-year starter was a two-time AllNortheast-10 selection, including first team as a senior, and a team captain last fall. Carroll, a Lynn native who majored in corporate finance and accounting, finished his career with 14 INTs, tying for fourth on Bentley’s all-time list.

Brad Hennemann Asst. Defensive Line 1st season

Brad Henneman, a 1984 graduate of Bucknell University, is in his first season on Thom Boerman’s coaching staff. His role is serving as an assistant defensive line coach. Henneman had an outstanding career as a four-year letterman and three-year starter at Bucknell. The former defensive tackle received the Stuart Smith Award, as the program’s outstanding sophomore in 1981, and was a third-team Kodak Division I-AA All-America as a senior. That same year, the Bison co-captain received the George Rieu Award as the team’s outstanding lineman. After graduating, he had a free-agent tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles. Henneman, a native of Greene, N.Y., resides in Abington and has two children, Sophia (13) and Trevor (10).

Michael Donovan Asst. Wide Receivers 1st season

Michael Donovan, a Bentley University senior who is majoring in corporate finance and accounting, is working as an assistant wide receivers coach for the Falcons. The former Stoughton High School linebacker made his coaching debut in 2009, coaching the wide receivers and defensive line at his alma mater.
