How does it work? There are two parts to the Life Learning Exchange: Add Stuff (where you find things already in the Life LearningExchange, and „get‟ them for your own page/site. Share (where you contribute your own cells, resources, sites/sub-sites. This creates a copy which goes into your site library for other users of Life to then find and „get‟) 3 www.LifeIsAboutLearning.Com

Most people want to „get‟ from the Life Learning Exchange. But do remember that this is a user-community, so be prepared to share your cells/resources as well as using those made by other people.

Using the Life Learning Exchange Anyone can browse the Life Learning Exchange. However, in order to „get‟ something from it onto your own page/site you will need to have Editor rights to the site you wish to add the Life Learning Exchange item to. Everyone can do this in their My Life > My Site. Try it and see how easy it is! 1. Go the Site that you want to add something to. 2. Go to Add Stuff. You‟ll see the pop-up below.

On the pop-up you will see several sections: Search (this is a search box which works exactly the same way as the Life Search. You can search by keyword, or click on the green cogs for full options) Filter (once you have found objects, this enables you to refine the results down to the ones that you most want to view. These filters represent the same categories as Life Tagging). Categories (this enables you to refine your results down to specific types of things (Sites/sub-sites, users, learning cells, and resources. If you click „more‟ you can also refine the results down to resource-type – for example just wikis) 4 www.LifeIsAboutLearning.Com

Discover Something New (these are recommended items, which are based on your profile tags, and uses the Semantic Learning Engine/ You Might Like feature). Others Like (this shows you the most viewed items and which items people have most clicked „get‟ on) Learning Cells & Apps (these are all the tools and „blank‟ options. Click on the Add Learning Cells or the Add Resources link at the top to further refine what you can see. Note: Blogs, Forums, Wikis, Links, Files, Learning Activities are all Resources, so can be found by clicking on Add Resources). When you have clicked on a Cell or App, you will see a note at the top of the panel telling you that it has now been added to your page/site. Learning Cells – are automatically added to the page that you are ok Learning Apps (resources) – are automatically added to the root-folder of the site that you are in. You can easily then copy & move them elsewhere.

How do I share into the Life Learning Exchange? To add content into a Life Learning Exchange, you will first need to add your own Life Learning Exchange library. When you then later add things to the Life Learning Exchange, a copy is made and added to your library, rather than adding the original itself.
