LOOKS COOL Designs to be interesting to an existing and a new audience. Have a brand new exciting and unfamilar feel. Not a cosy or safe design rather a more daring way to represent the books of the Bible selected for the project.

E A SY T O N AV I G AT E Designs to be easy to use with the audience in mind, the genres create an outline for the set and instruct the reader as too which book they require.

PRODUCTION DUMMY With a little help from Brian, I was able to typeset the book of Genesis. With the addition of a front and back cover, this is now avaliable to be taken a printer and printed professionally. As well as looking rather nice, it has a very easily readable typeface, Univers Light. Inserted is a list system to tell the reader the verse number. This enables readers to find the chapter and verse they want very quickly. By choosing red for the numbers, the section the reader desires to easy to find when flicking through quickly.

A size was chosen by the research of the Penguin Great Ideas collection. The body copy is nicely spaced with room for creep, the readers thumbs is a perfect size for a pocket or handbag.

GOOD

A bit too ‘desingerary’. Nice layouts but without real substance and what does exist is quite a long winded reasoning to why they look how they do.

BETTER

These roughs show a more considered layout that include the idea of being able to navigate through the set. Each covers informs on the genre that it came from and points out the specific book.

IDEAS A very long discussion and investigation with my father, along with some Bible study found a large amount of information. This can be turned into ideas and artwork. What was found was the more in depth stories and themes within the books of the Bible, the smaller but no less interesting facts that may make for a more interesting cover rather than what is expected. Now ideas have been collected, the artwork can be produced.
