I CHIOSTRI DE RONCHI - LEGNANO project of restoration of a building by bbpr converted into a convent in Legnano, Milan professor Nora Lombardini Architectural Preservation Studio The project consists in an architectural restoration project. The building on which the project works is the former heliotherapeutic colony, designed by bbpr, in Legnano, near Milan. The building is located inside the park “Parco bosco dei Ronchi; the isolation of the area from the city, the fact that the building is immersed in nature, the pre-existence of a church, the silence and the sense of spirituality that certain spaces of the building confer, have meant a reconversion of the building with the function of a convent. Taking as reference the typology of convent building, then, the project is configured as a unitary system of courts, which are hierarchized and constitute the distributive element of the entire project, through the design of the open space. The building was designed and built in 1938. In 1956 it changed its function and a new construction was added, now used for the cps function. The project tries to be faithful and reinterpret the original building in a contemporary key, subsequently integrating in the project also the building added later.
