II IN BETWEEN - Milan project for a new parish complex in Città Studi, Milan professor Emilio Faroldi Final Design Studio The theme refers to the design of a multifunctional complex, which will have to host functions and activities related to worship and socialization. The parish complex replaces the pre-existing one and the intent is to regenerate a part of the city with strategic values in ​​ terms of location and function. The project of the parish complex was faced by a double point of view. On the one hand, the attention was placed on the sacred place, so that it could adequately express its symbolic meanings; on the other hand, there is the commitment to respond to a series of specific functional needs of the community. The project aims to provide a new “community center” away from a segregated model, open and integrated with the context, able to balance the liturgical needs of tranquility and contemplation with the provision of social spaces, for a public use, without compromising the pre-eminence of the worship space. The concept, according to the paradigm of the measure, arises from the pure form of the square, which fits into the lot respecting the layers of adjacent buildings. In order to generate an element of differentiation that could establish new hierarchies within the lot, the original position of the square has undergone a rotation, generating the position of the church. The position of the church is therefore different from that of the annexed functions, which have maintained the original grid.
