K-LINE 2021 STRATEGI C TI LLAGE PLAN

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR BRANCHES WARRACKNABEAL- JUSTIN WARD Welcome to the first edition of 2021. With the harvest all done and yields all tallied up, it's fair to say that the 2020 season was one for the books. The interruption of COVID19 and the restrictions put in place saw some challenges that we have never faced before, creating some industries' financial unrest. Fortunately enough, we were in a sector that saw little or no real impact financially, other than the outlay of masks and hand sanitiser. With having said that, we did, however, experience some delays in spare part supply and wholegoods machinery supply. Looking forward, we hope that the world can recover and those affected the most can prosper and get back on track as soon as possible. The new year signals a time to enjoy the fruits of last year's hard work. The workshop has been busy and the sales guys have been flat out, this tells me that our clients are content in spending money where it needs to be, thus giving them the confidence to move into 2021 with their machinery in the best condition possible to enjoy a trouble-free year. Patchy summer rain has seen boom sprayers in the paddocks knocking down early weeds and preparing paddocks ready for cropping. Maintaining the sprayer is something that we can not leave to the last minute so be sure to take up the maintenance deals on offer with Belle-Vue Trading to have that trouble-free season we hope for. Lastly, I encourage everyone to make sure their machinery programs are up to date, not just service wise but also when it's time to update, as I feel that there will be a shortage in quality machines later in the year. Good luck for 2021 and together we look forward to a great year.

SWAN HILL- DANIEL WEBSTER We would like to welcome you to the new year by saying thankyou for your valued support throughout 2020. Towards the end of last year we found ourselves having some supply issues with machinery and parts due to container freight which looks to be an on going issue whilst the Australian export market remains low. We would advise that any hay equipment or parts that you require for spraying / sowing / harvest pre-season etc, be ordered earlier than normal to allow for the slower delivery time. On a positive note we have started to see our new machinery stock orders coming into Australia and we can hopefully get the yard stocked back up. The new T8.380 PLMi tractor that landed in Warracknabeal prior to Christmas has just started its demonstration program so please contact one of our salesman to arrange a drive. The big discounts for early orders on headers, fronts and hay equipment is coming to an end quickly so if you would like to see what sort of deal you can get please do not leave it until the last minute. After the success of the automated IntelliSense CR headers during harvest 2020 we have ordered all 2021 machines for stock with IntelliSense again. It is proving to have some major benefits and with software updates coming through it will only get better. PAGE 3

STRATEGIC TILLAGE PLAN AHEAD NOW FOR 2021! With optimism in the agricultural industry rising throughout 2020, farmers are now mulling over their management plan for next season and what they can do to further improve productivity, efficiencies, and soil health to optimise every drop of rain and nutrients forthe 2021 season. Whether it be soil compaction, acidic band issues, sub-optimal soil structure affecting plant moisture and nutrient availability, or mechanical management of chemical resistant weeds, farmers are carefully thinking through their plan for 2021. Bill Larsen, the Manager of Sales & Marketing at K-Line Ag has been talking with farmers across the country. “Farmers are innovative, they are more determined than ever to re-evaluate their soil improvement techniques. They are progressive and always considering new management practises and methods that will help improve yields.” The K-Line Ag range has become very popular among grain growers. They are Australian made and continually evolving to meet the demands of the various soil types and farming industries. The machine of particularly high value and interest for improving crop yields through strategic tillage are the new large Speedtiller Powerflex® models. The team at K-Line work closely with farmers to develop machines that have options to suit the needs of all farming situations. The large Powerflex® models weigh between7.5 tonnes and 22.5 tonnes and have between 50 and 125 discs operating at any one time. The newest addition to the range of K-Line machines is the 15.5m Mammoth Powerflex. This model is particularly well suited to large scale farming operations. Field proven for efficiency and durability, the Speedtiller Powerflex® handles the job with ease, moves dirt like an offset, and is an excellent finishing tool for levelling and one-pass seedbed preparation.

The Speedtiller Powerflex advantage: *Selective dual mode weight transfer. *Larger models come complete with wing land wheels giving it excellent contour following in uneven terrain · *Heavy duty tillage tool for most tillage application. *Quick adjust lateral disc position. *Proven extreme duty disc arm & hubs. *Roller shock protection. Not often can you buy the one machine that serves so many purposes. The Speedtiller® Powerflex by K-Line Ag is your answer to chemical resistant weeds, residue management and incorporation, and soil improvement and seedbed preparation. Early season ryegrass management The term “strategic tillage” gets bandied about quite frequently in a number of contexts, but when using tillage as a mechanical means to control ryegrass in pre-emergence, the strategy of the tillage – the timing in regards to weather and the ryegrass seed’s germination cycle, the proximity to sowing, the coordination with preemergent herbicide applications – is necessary to ensure its effectiveness. Using a K-Line Speedtiller to disrupt the plant’s growing cycle produces long-lasting effects on its ability to compete with the crops in the paddock. PAGE 13

STRATEGIC TILLAGE PLAN AHEAD NOW FOR 2021! Stubble management Getting benefits of retained residues into the soil is another place where the multi-function Speedtiller Powerflex® shines. Surface residues decay faster when they’re smaller, and the discing and trash-cutting components of the Speedtiller turn even the toughest stalks into smaller, more easily-compostable pieces. Faster decay means faster mineralisation of key nutrients and earlier bioavailability of those nutrients to the next season’s crop. Some estimates put the rate of mineralisation by crop residues at 1/4 to 1/5 of the plant’s demand during peak growth, so faster mineralisation means better early growth in new crops. Quality seedbed preparation Seedbed preparation can be difficult in high residue soils. Soil surfaces with high residues are rough with retained stalks, root balls, and other detritus. However, good germination depends on the ability of the seed to remain in contact with moist, nutritive soil and is usually accomplished best in smoother soil. Striking the Balance between retaining valuable residues from a previous crop and meeting the seedbed needs of a new crop is another situation where the Powerflex® excels.

PAGE 14

It allows farmers to address both the soil and the incoming crop needs with its multi-functional approach. The Speedtiller processes residues into small, easily integrated pieces, leaving a smooth, prepped seedbed surface and a high-residue, nutrient-rich humus to drive seed germination and growth. K-Line Ag continues to drive ahead with innovation in farm tillage machinery by listening to and acting on the needs and challenges faced by Australian farmers. “When producers are faced with new challenges and pain points we like to work alongside them to develop the tillage and seeding machines that meet their requirements.” said Bill. As a division of the global leader in agricultural machinery – CNH Industrial, K-Line has a continued focus on agricultural technology and product innovations to meet the needs of Australian growers. 2.75% finance is now available on the complete Speedtiller® range and repayments can be delayed until March 2021. Order now so that your machine is ready and in the shed for the 2021 season.
