FARMERS’ MARKET The Farmers’ Market has been operating in Downtown Belleville for over two centuries. Constructed in 1872-73, five years before Belleville became a city, the original City Hall building housed an indoor market on the first floor and, on the second floor, a public hall and municipal office. Whenever you are in the Quinte region, check out the rich variety of crafts and produce at the Belleville Farmers’ Market. In the spring, the market comes alive with maple syrup and crafts, and remains a ‘hive of activity’ right through the Christmas season. It’s not uncommon to see local restauranteurs picking up produce on market days to ensure that they are serving the freshest food.
The market is located in historic Market Square behind City Hall, and is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays all year round. “On a busy summer Saturday there can be up to 2,000 shoppers strolling through Market Square to meet our local producers for farm fresh products.”
