1 year: 3 GCSEs grades 9–3 or A* – D including English and maths and a keen interest in information & creative technology.

2 years: 4 GCSEs grades 9–4 or A* – C including English and maths OR Level 2 in Information & Creative Technology.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will study a range of topics including: the online world; digital portfolio; technology systems; creating digital graphics; computing in the workplace; website development; spreadsheet development; computational thinking; installing and maintaining hardware; multimedia products development; the online world and installing and maintaining software.

In year one you will study a range of units, including: principles of computer science; fundamentals of computer systems; IT systems security and encryption; business applications of social media; impact of computing; digital graphics and animation; planning and management of computing projects and a software design and development project. In year two you will study either the Hardware Technician pathway or the Digital Development route, or possibly a mixed route. The units studied and campus of delivery will depend on choices made at the end of year one.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL I GAIN? • Information & Creative Technology BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate with Functional Skills AND • English and maths qualifications if required WHAT COULD I DO NEXT? You can progress on to an apprenticeship or go on to our Level 3 Computer Science study programme which allow you to specialise in Software Development, Hardware or Interactive Media.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL I GAIN? • Computing BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma AND • English and maths qualifications if required UCAS POINTS AVAILABLE: Up to 168 WHAT COULD I DO NEXT? This Level 3 qualification can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for university. You will be able to move to the Computing HNC/HND at Tresham College and Bedford College, move on to a degree or go directly into employment as a Software Developer or Hardware Engineer.
