Christmas Eve 2012

Offering and Connection Card Our Christmas offering is for our Joy Home children and families in Kenya. Your generous gift will meet the need for medical care, education, resources for the ‘mothers’ who each care for 7 to 8 children, and operational funds needed to keep the home running. Your support makes possible a daily reminder that each of these children are adopted into royalty by the King of Kings.

Doxology and Prayer of Dedication Hymn # 60

Silent Night

1 Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright Round yon virgin mother and child! Holy Infant, so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.

3 Silent night, holy night! Son of God, love’s pure light, Radiant beams from Thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

2 Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight, Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia; Christ the Savior, is born, Christ the Savior is born.

4 Silent night, holy night! Wonderous star, lend thy light; With the angels let us sing, Alleluia to our King; Christ the Savior, is born, Christ the Savior is born.

Hymn #56

Leader: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. All: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Leader: Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. All: He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Leader: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. All: In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (Genesis 1:1-2 & John 1:1-5)

Processional Hymn #40

Joy to the World

1 Joy to the world; the Lord is come; Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

3 No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as, the curse is found.

2 Joy to the World, the Savior reigns! Let us our songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

4 He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Prayer of Adoration (in unison) God of mystery and might, we praise and worship you. You came in silence, while all lay sleeping, to enter our world as a child of humble birth, Jesus Christ, born of your handmaid Mary. In Christ’s face we behold your glory, for in Christ’s life as in his death is your gift of salvation. By your Spirit, make our hearts burn with thanksgiving, that we may give as we have received. Let our whole lives be gifts of praise to you, God of love and peace, in the gracious name of Jesus Christ, your Son, by the power of your Holy Spirit, now and forever.

The First Nowell

1 All The first Nowell the angel did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay a-keeping their sheep, On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

3 Gentlemen only And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a king was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. [Refrain]

Refrain: Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel.

6 All Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord; That hath made heaven and earth of nought, And with his blood mankind hath bought.[Refrain]

2 Ladies only They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east, beyond them far, And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night. [Refrain]
