I am writing this article trying to reach Mobile Marketers and Companies that use Mobile Marketing within their marketing strategy. If you are familiar with the SMS Long Code, or sometimes referred to as a Long Number, you are one of the few, but growing. If studies mentioned by the Mobile Marketing Association become reality, 88% of brand marketers will use mobile marketing techniques in 2011. A greater portion of these brand marketers will be using the Short Code to run their campaigns. This is not because it was their choice. Unfortunately, many marketers don't know that they have a choice for deploying their initiatives and I want to bring to their awareness the SMS Long Number. Here is why. If any of these terms are important to your mobile marketing initiatives, the SMS Long Code should be a serious consideration:

Time to Market Low Deployment Complexity Manageability Cost per Customer Localization and even Hyper-Localization Consumer Centric Program Setup Time and Cost

The SMS Long Number is a digital phone number enabled to carry SMS. More excitedly a Long Code number serves multiple communications needs because it also can carry voice, faxing and email traffic. The Long Number fits into a Unified Communications Platform very well, in fact, it completes a total solution. Unlike the Short Code, the Long Code can be deployed nearly instantly, there is no red tape, no hoops to jump through and most importantly it doesn't cost $500 to $1000 dollars a month just have, even before the first message is sent. Keep in mind that it can take up to months just to set up a Short Code as well. The benefits brand marketers will realize from deploying their mobile marketing initiatives using a Long Number versus a Short Code are:

Easy to Setup

Cost Savings right from the beginning Time to Market is very short Near Real-time Cost per Long Code number very low, making Localization affordable Much easier to manage adds, moves and changes

Hopefully this article has provided you with some knowledge that there is a choice. As awareness grows about the Long Code, the Short Code will still have its place, but I think this article will start differently, more like this-If studies mentioned by the Mobile Marketing Association become reality, 95% of brand marketers will use mobile marketing techniques in 2013. A greater portion of these brand marketers will be using the Long Code to run their campaigns. This was their choice over the Short Code.
