Barrier Repair - Why You Should Use This Dermalogica Moisturiser
Barrier repair works at repairing damage caused by soap and water, pollution, cold weather, harshcosmetics or anything that strips the skin. This sensitive skin moisturiser is waterless and helps repair this damage.
Redness, irritation, flakiness and itchiness and cause havoc on your skin. This dermalogica moisturiser is a must have product you need in your skin care routine.
Dermalogica Moisturiser Barrier Repair - Let's Examine It
Natural silicones are used in the dermalogica moisturiser Barrier Repair. They come from parts of plants and therefore organic and natural Silicones in moisturisers are used because they help to prevent moisture in the skin escaping and also keep the skin hydrated, it feels really nice and best of all silicones do not clog or irritate the skin.
To strengthen the barrier function dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane are used. They are two silicones that are very similar that enhance the skin’s barrier. The silicones act like “butter” by slowing oozing into the skin cells. This improves the barrier function of the skin and protects the skin from moisture loss and dehydration.
Silicones are very important because of the way they repair the skin, reducing dehydration and therefore sensitivity.
The sensitive complex by dermalogica is used in Barrier Repair along with the silicones. This AntiOzonate Complex consists of (fumeric acid, furmitory extract and lemon extract). I am amazed at the wonders of the ingredient Fumeric Acid. It actually protects the skin’s hylauronic acid, enzymes, vitamins and proteins from pollution.
Vitamin E can be reduced by as much as 25% in your skin by being exposed to ground level pollution with sunlight. This environmental pollution is toxic and destroys vitamin E in your skin’s cells.
If you are concerned with ageing you must use vitamin E. Vitamin E protects your cells membranes, when vitamin E is reduced this speeds up the ageing process – that is why you need to apply vitamin E to your skin. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, smoothes the skin, protects the skin’s barrier functions and deeply moisturises. Thank goodness barrier repair contains vitamin E.
This dermalogica moisturiser also contains vitamin C as it protects the skin and has antioxidant properties. This moisturiser also uses Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter.
The barrier function of the skin is strengthened thanks to Evening Primrose Oil and the skin is protected thanks to Shea Butter.
Tightness, flakiness, Dry, scaly skin are all signs of dehydration. Pulling gently on your skin sometimes can cause tiny crinkles on the surface of the skin, even oily skin, this is known as dehydration.
Dermalogica use part of the chamomile plant called bisabolol an inflammatory ingredients that soothes, heals and calms irritated skin.
Skin Moisturisation - is Barrier Repair Good Enough?
This moisturiser repairs the barrier function of the skin and restores the water balance of the skin. Severe dehydrated skins will need to use another moisturiser such as intensive moisture balance over the top of this product. Expect to wait at least three weeks to see improvement in your skin.
I like to use skin smoothing cream over the top for extra hydration if needed. This product is to be used when your skin is environmentally sensitized. When your skin is repaired you can go back to your normal dermalogica moisturiser.
I often suffer with sensitivity on my neck. I have found using the dermalogica sensitive ultracalming range has returned my skin’s state back to normal and I can return back to my usual routine.
Dermalogica’s Barrier Repair is an investment in your skin and works wonderfully. If you suffer with sensitive skin or have the occasional sensitivity I would recommend this product, its great.
