RETIRED ATHLETES LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME! email@example.com
We are an adoption group for retired greyhounds. We are a small group, working to change the destiny of these magnificent athletes. GGAPG is holding a fundraising dance at Melanie Pringles (Whitby) on March 12th, 2011. Our goal is to raise enough money to bring more of these beautiful animals from the southern US to their forever homes. Thanks to the advocacy work of GREY2KUSA most tracks in the northern states have been closed down. A large part of this fundraiser will be a silent auction. We are hoping that you will consider supporting the GGAPG. We would be most happy to advertise and thank your business during our event. Otherwise, please just come and enjoy the dancing! We would be extremely appreciative for any help you can give! Here are some details‌..
Saturday, March 12th, 7:30 pm – the wee hours
DJ, Bar Snacks, Silent Auction, lots of dancing
$10.00 / ticket – proceeds go to vet care, transportation, fostering and adoption
dogs will be available to cuddle for the first hour or so – but will leave before the music begins
Many of these beautiful animals live a miserable life inside a small concrete or wire cell for 20 – 22 hours of a day. The spaces are usually too small for full mobility. They are fed ‘4D’ meat (decaying, diseased, dying or dead) as it’s cheap. If the dogs show little promise on the track they are often destroyed (hung, shot, left to starve, given to labs or worse). The founder of this small group has been to these tracks and has seen what few people see. GGAPG has a vet in New Brunswick who spays/neuters the animals, repairs their teeth (usually decayed from sugar packs applied before a race and probably drugs) and repairs health issues, such as broken legs. The ex racers are in good health when they are placed for adoption. Our vet charges GGAPG a minimal fee that covers her basic costs. The greyhounds usually come over 2 at a time and go to a foster home in the Oshawa area until their forever home is ready. Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause. We look forward to seeing you on the 12th!!
