The purpose of this portfolio is to show a collection of projects that highlight some of my work during my education at the Jรถnkรถping University (Sweden) and the University of Zaragoza (Spain). Within this portfolio you will find conceptual, industrial and graphic design: sketches, 3D and physical modeling, 2D and 3D rendering, packaging, identity, web design and photography. ready meal packaging for elderly people Final thesis (Spring Semester 2013) The aim of this project was to develop a new packaging concept for elderly people, in the form of ready meals tray, by focusing on the user needs. It was intended to be easy to open even for rheumatics, and thought for use in elderly care services and for the alimentary industry.

The final result is a product family of paperboard and fiber packagings, easy to open and based on rounded and organic forms to make them nicer to eat from and provide an enjoyable meal experience to the end users. The use of natural materials makes these packagings environmentally friendly, creating great market opportunities facing the plastic products.

easy opening Two holes on the plastic film provide the user more possibilities of opening, avoiding the pinch grip (the thumbindex finger grip) that is very hard or impossible to make for rheumatics because of the oblique finger joints.

These two holes allow the user to open the packaging with one or two fingers, or even with the help of any element if they need to make more strength (the back of one fork, for instance). The plastic flap is bigger than in the current products, so that it clearly indicates the area in which the user should grab. This is an important feature considering that older people have bad eyesight.

enjoyable meal experience The whole meal experience has been analyzed, so that a small tray with the same form language has been developed. Therefore, CCPack could provide a big lunchbox and a small one for the desert or some cold complementary food to the main dish. This will provide an enjoyable meal experience to the user since the relationship between the two products is more consistent.

The outer cardboard packaging for the alimentary industry has been improved to make it easier to open. It will be an outer skin overlying the tray, opened on the long sides so that the user has an easier access to the tray. Since now the tray is seen from outside, it can be also used as graphic support. The tray could have every color or design the company wants. The outer packaging has been designed so that the cardboard protect the plastic flap to avoid breaks during the transport. In addition, the cardboard die has an optimal material use, having an environmentally friendly perspective in all details around the product.


An example with graphics for a food company was designed to have a more realistic view of the product and simulate how it could look like.

identity All products capable of being released to the market requires communication media that allows it to be known among potential buyers and/or consumers. Therefore, it was required to assign the product a name and an imagotype that convey its core values.

They were made in paperboard, using polystyrene molds prepared with the positive and negative (the interior and exterior) of the tray.

One less car Combination of natural and recycled materials for the most eco-friendly and sustainable pedelec. Bamboo and biodegradable flax fiber composite frame, wood fenders, leather, cork , recycled aluminum, water based paint... Riding a regular bicycle saves on greenhouse gas emissions, but this pedelec is even more eco friendly because of the materials used.

Pedelec conceptual design Autumn Semester 2012

The aim of this 13 weeks project was to develop an innovative pedelec concept to perform the new engine from HÜganäs AB in the best way, by focusing on the user and using an industrial design methodology. Industrial design methods used include design brief, brainstorming, work breakdown structure, functional analysis, personas, moodboards, ideation sketching and prototyping, among others. From the information gathered during the research phase, an opportunity was identified, and three potential concepts were created and considered. The final and developed concept is based on the use of natural and recycled materials for an eco-friendly and sustainable pedelec to be used as an everyday use bike to reduce the use of cars in big cities.

1:2 Physical model

A physical model in 1:2 scale was made as a tangible communication element to show and explain the final result. As the main value of my concept was the use of natural materials, I wanted to emphasize that in the physical model using real materials as bamboo and leather, and some wood stickers. The frame and the handlebar were made in foam, some parts by hand and others with the aid of a CNC milling machine.


discovery The new hybrid front mower suitable for everyone (Spring Semester 2012) This 7 weeks project aimed at developing a new professional front mower for the company Stiga (GGP Group) to be on the market in early 2014, in between two of their current products, the ‘Stiga Park Pro’ and the ‘Stiga Titan’. As the company was developing a new brand positioning based on the user focus, I mainly thought on the end users and their specific needs, that is thinking in the Individual needs and not just thinking about the product as a machine. This made the project turn into a conceptual design study based on the ergonomics related with the product.

TOASTER Brand a toaster Spring Semester 2012

The aim of this project was to perform a conceptual study of a toaster. We were assigned a car brand for which the product would be developed. The result was a Ferrari toaster focus on the young who somehow is making the coin to get a Ferrari car as a status symbol. It was mainly inspired by the Ferrari P4/5 and based on some adjectives and synonyms to the brand related to this car model: Sporty, sleek/elegant, continous lines and round forms. I used some moodboards for inspiration with products related to the user and materials and colors related to the brand.

The most ambitious flashlight idea Spring Semester 2010

The aim of this project was to design a flashlight, with no restriction. After a market analysis and considering the problems that this type of product presents, different creative methods were used to obtain as many ideas as possible. It was found that the big problem concerning flashlights was that the user is unable to manipulate other objects while using a flaslight. Therefore, a “hand free” flashlight was developed. ZYX is a flashlight that consists of two luminous gloves that allows you to handle with both hands with no restrictions, as the flashlight itself are the hands. The product is based on a composition of microleds that produce the light enough to do crafts or project it in a short – medium distance. It can also be used to produce light signals. The system enables you to direct the light very easily with the position of your hand.

APPLICATIONS The product could be used to perform any task, allowing the user to have both hands free.

It could also be used as a flashlight that users have at home for emergencies when the power goes out or a bulb needs to be changed.

Los guantes ZYX permiten una gran maniobrabilidad a la hora de hacer cualquier tipo de manualidad sin luz. 4 - En caso de que la batería se gaste puede abrirse la tapa de esta aflojando un tornillo a presión. La empresa LUMIJABS S.A. también comercializa otros tipos de elementos lumínicos como los guantes de luz GLUX. Se trata de unos guantes desechables que utilizan la tecnología de quimioluminiscencia para crear luz a partir de unas bolsas luminosas que se amoldan a la mano.

PACKAGING


Web design Spring Semester 2011 The aim of the final project for the Multimedia Communication course was to design a website, so I decided to make a personal portfolio in which organize and present my photographic work. The template was entirely designed and made in Adobe Dreamweaver. In order to meet the web standards recommended by the W3C to provide benefits to as many users as possible, the site construction relied on the separation of three components differing contents and formats: - Transitional XHTML for the structural design, that is, to describe the contents of the pages. - CSS for the style or appearance of the site. To further increase efficiency, I used CSS stylesheets to apply them to the different pages. - JavaScript and DOM were used for the functionality or usability of the site. This improved the appearance of the menus and links, and hidden layers and changes in appearance and functionality on the site elements could be used.


Product photography A good product presentation is very important, thus I have combine my passion for photography with my education in Industrial Design. I have taken some courses in photography to improve my knowledge of analogic and digital reflex cameras.
