Lionism was started in Barbados in 1961 by Cecil DeCaires with the formation of the Lions Club of Bridgetown (formerly the Barbados Lions Club). Charter Date: September 28th, 1961. Lionism spread to the North of the island with the establishment of the Lions Club of Barbados North. Charter Date: April 20 th, 1974.

Lions Club of Barbados South followed one year later and received its Charter on November 5th, 1975. In an attempt to further decentralize Lionism on the island Lions Club Central was formed. Charter Date- May 15th’1979. With an increase in the demand for community service across the island the following clubs were chartered: Lions Club of Barbados East: Charter Date- February 4th, 1988 Lions Club Scotland District: Charter Date- December 23rd, 1991 Lions Club of St. Michael: Charter Date-June 23rd, 1992 Lions Club of Christ Church West: Charter Date-November 25th, 1992 Leo Clubs: Bridgetown: August 4th, 1971

IMMEDIATE PAST He/she and the other past presidents shall serve as mentors to the PRESIDENT club president and vice presidents and serve as the club LCIF coordinator unless he/she is unable at which time this position may be filled by another club member.

VICE PRESIDENT(S) If the president is unable to perform the duties of his/her office for any reason, the vice president next in rank shall occupy his/her position and perform his/her duties with the same authority as the president. Each vice president shall, under the direction of the president, oversee the functioning of such committees of this club as the president shall designate. SERVICE Serve as a club resource on current community needs by monitoring the CHAIRPERSON service activities of other service clubs, developing community partnerships to expand service, and utilizing tools and resources offered by Lions Clubs International and Lions Clubs International Foundation.
