Years ago, all banking was done with cash and bank books and cheques. These days, the banks don’t even really want you to come into the branches, but when the technology goes wrong everyone stands around wondering what to do. Fortunately that doesn’t happen very o8en as most technologies are ge0ng more and more reliable. In real estate, technology is also embedded into our daily processes and some+mes “generic” technology can be adapted to address specific ac+vi+es and requirements. For example, in these days of covid restric+ons it can be difficult for a purchaser to travel and undertake a pre-se?lement inspec+on on a property they are buying. One solu+on is to use a simple video chat session, where the sales agent can walk through the property with their phone, broadcas+ng the images to the purchasers whilst cha0ng with them about what they want to see. This might seem simple, but a few years ago, this wasn’t really an op+on. In a similar way, digital signatures can now be used to sign documents while viewing them on a device. Previously, contracts or agreements were mailed via snail mail, signed and posted back, some+mes taking weeks. Then we emailed, printed, signed, scanned and emailed them back, generally taking a day or two depending on people’s access to scanners etc. Now you can simply open the document and sign it online and the so8ware will update everyone’s copy with the digital signatures, and the whole thing can be done in seconds.
