NEW FOR SUMMER There's so many new directions to take with the beautiful charms and cords that have just arrived. Take a look at Katrina's holiday-ready necklace project on the next page for more ideas on how you can use tassels, charms and crystals.

Floral prints and colourful festival tassels are trending again for Summer and we can't get enough of them! We're sewing tassels and pom poms onto everything from hats and hairbands to sandals and anklets. These pretty flower cords are just perfect for gluing into cord ends for a simple bracelet showcasing your favourite part of the print. Try wrapping the cord around your wrist 2 or 3 times and securing the ends together with a magnetic clasp for a cute wrap bracelet. You can also add slider beads and charms along the cord or sew on some beads to add more texture and colour.

STEP 1 Cut a length of chain 28 inches long. Attach the two halves of your clasp to either end with jumprings.

STEP 2 Attach two jumprings to the fan tassel charm. Find the centre of your chain and link each one onto the chain, so that you have two circles in between each jumpring.

STEP 3

The spacing of the other charms is entirely up to you! We kept the design asymmetric. Along the right side we attached a feather charm 2 inches away from the centre tassel. Leave 1.5 inches, then attach your zodiac constellation charm.

STEP 4 Leave another 1.5 inch of chain before adding your tassel, 2-inch gap then add your feather charm, ending with a 1-inch gap before another feather charm.

Floral Fantasy Blue Floral Fabric Round Cord 6.5mm

STEP 5 On the opposite side leave a 3-inch gap and your crystal setting charm. Leave a 1.5-inch gap and add a feather charm. Then leave a 2-inch gap before adding a tassel. Finish by adding another feather charm1-inch from the tassel.

STEP 6 Apply a drop of Gem-Tac glue to the crystal setting and set your crystal into place. Allow to dry for up to 24-hours before wearing your necklace.

SUMMER STAMPING We're so excited to show you our latest collection of metal stamping tools and bases. The ImpressArt starters range at Beads Direct is a great place to start if you want to learn how to embellish your own charms, tags and bracelets with letters, words, quotes and symbols.

Perfect your stamping skills with large packs of 16 tags and 20 hearts!

There are a few different metals that you can start embellishing as soon as you have your hammer, block and your chosen stamps. Our starter bases are perfect for wearing as pendants or attaching to charm bracelets. The aluminium tag charm is great for making your own pet collar tags. Some flat bases don't have a threading hole meaning they can be glued onto another flat base such as to the middle of a bangle. Use the ImpressArt hole punching pliers with blank bases like this aluminium heart and make your charm hang at whichever angle you want. With your pack of 20 hearts, you can punch to make pendants and connectors with multiple threading holes.

Once you've got the hang of writing with your new alphabet and symbol stamps, you can make your designs stand out with the ImpressArt black antique enamel marker pen. Simply rub the pen over your stamped surface and leave for a few minutes before wiping off the excess with a paper towel. This leaves the acrylic ink inside the stamped symbols where it will dry in place. Try using the pen to make different parts of your designs stand out against more delicate textures and patterns you create. This amazing tool is an essential for marking precisely with your 3mm stamps. Simply place your chosen stamp in the jig and hold it firmly while you hit it with the hammer. The jig helps you achieve a clear impression and protects your fingers while you work!

Look out for more NEW ImpressArt stamps, tools and metal bases in the next few weeks at Beads Direct! SHOP ALL IMPRESSART

The star and heart stamps are a great place to start if you want to make more decorative designs. Why not a message with your letter stamps and embellish around the words with cute stars?

I made these pieces for a Preciosa competition, made using Preciosa drop beads and seed beads. Didn't win anything (didn't expect to with the other work entered) but it was very nice working with the beads. I made a leaf and flower pendant and a simple posy of flowers. Mary Hughes

These are really cute Mary, I love the little pink and purple flowers on your pendant and the vase of beads will be great for Autumn!

To make your bracelets, you will need... A bead board or similar work surface + optional glue

How to make 1 macrame knot Follow the 5 diagrams to learn how to make a single macrame square knot. You should start each section by passing your thread to it's

halfway point, under your verticle thread. This knot can then be repeated as many times as you like to cover the length of a bracelet or a few times to make the sliding knot for your bracelet clasp.

Single strand beaded bracelet 1. Start by cutting 2 threads measuring approx. 30cm each. 2. Take one thread and add as many seed beads as you want. We added approx. 30 beads, but you can add a few more to fill out the length of the bracelet. Knot either side of the beads to keep them in place in the middle. 3. Take the two ends of the bracelet and lay them side by side (as shown in the diagram to the right). Thread your other 30cm thread under where the arrow points and make approx. 5 knots over the crossed cords. 4. Make sure your knots aren't too tight, so that the inner cords can slide through to adjust the size of the bracelet for the wearer. To secure after the last knot, you can add a dab of glue to each of the 2 knotting cords (making sure the glue doesn't soak through to the inner threads) or you can make 2 overhand knots on top of your last macrame knot, pulling the second one tightly. Trim off the excess cord. 5. Finish your bracelet by threading a bead onto each end of thread and knot a couple of times to keep the beads from falling off.

Double strand connector charm bracelet 1. Start by cutting 4 threads measuring approx. 30cm each. 2. Thread one cord through the hole on top of the pineapple charm and the other thread through a hole on the other side. Pull them through the charm to their halfway points. 3. Starting on one side of your pineapple, place the two sides of the same cord next to each other. Thread one of your spare 30cm cords under these, below the pineapple. Make a couple of inches of knots and then secure the threads with glue or a tight knot and trim off the excess. Repeat this on the other side of your pineapple. 4. Finally, follow steps 3, 4 and 5 to make your sliding clasp with 4 inner threads inside the knots, instead of 2.
