SHOAL Reception We are looking for volunteers at reception at the SHOAL Centre. Every day is a new day at reception at SHOAL, so if you like to learn on the job this one is for you! Duties include answering phones, registering participants in programs and working the cash register and debit machine. First impressions are important so we are looking for someone with a happy disposition who thrives on variety in life and has a genuine desire to help people. Help us to spread the word about programs, services and events at SHOAL Centre; enjoy a walk and connect with the community at the same time! Beacon’s volunteer team continues to grow as we respond to the needs of the community and provide services aimed at helping people and improving lives. We have added some exciting volunteer opportunities such as: supporting the monthly seniors’ lunch, accompanying the weekly shopping bus trip, senior advocacy, special events at the SHOAL centre, Music and Memory detective, and creating memory books in dementia housing. Good Food Box Saanich Peninsula’s affordable produce box Quality, fresh, local, seasonal, organic and conventional produce available to all Saanich Peninsula residents for reasonable prices! Orders will be delivered to SHOAL on the last Wednesday of each month (home delivery may be available – call to inquire), and orders are due the Wednesday prior to delivery. Sidney Single Seniors 55+
Are you 55 or older and single? The Sidney Single Seniors 55+ might be the perfect fit. Annual membership is $20. Our regular meeting is on Wednesday, April 17 at 2pm in Auditorium A, SHOAL Centre. Our other activities include meals at local restaurants, ferry trips, bus trips up island, morning walks, picnics, coffee, five pin bowling and putting at the Ridge. April activities will include lunch at “Boondocks” and possibly a tour of the Naval Base in Esquimalt.
