Project Statement Background Since its release in 1971, A Clockwork Orange has developed a huge cult following. It remains, to this day, a highly controversial film due to its graphic depictions of sex and violence. On August 29, the film will be shown at the Seattle International Fim Festival. Target Audience 20 year old males who have just recently seen the movie but are jumping on to the cult bandwagon. Objectives I want those who know the iconic image to be impressed with the use of Alex’s monologues to create his likeness and those who have not seen the movie to be intrigued by it and go watch the movie to see what it’s all about. Obstacles The people who don’t recognize Alex’s iconic image may not be interested in watching the movie or finding out more about the character. They also may not understand the use of type to creat his portrait. Key Benefit The intrigue generated by the image will cause more people to go and watch the movie and broaden their knowledge of classicaly disturbing filmography. Support Statements Those who do go and see the movie will have plenty of things to talk about. The conversatins about the film should trigger more interest in people due to its outlandish nature and will cause more people to watch the movie for themselves. Tone Due to the dark nature of the film, the portrait should have the same menacing qualities (e.g. Alex’s sneer / glare at the camera). Media The image can appear in posters around the SIFF and in magazine / web articles promoting the events and showing screen times.
