Rain. Thunderstorms. Showers. Flooding. All words I did not want to hear from the forecast of the 6 o‘clock morning news on Sept. 11th, 2009. It was the last day of our Marvelous Encounter Week. The big day. The sugar in our tea. The icing on the cake! The day that God was to remove the shackles and set His captives free through His perfect and pure Love. God had been so good in our week of events which started with Tuesday‘s Bible Study. The Word of God came forth and the altar call for true

freedom was made. Before the Bible study leader finished talking, over half of the people present boldly walked out—those dealing with unforgiveness, bitterness, and anger. I thank God that people left that night with burdens of unforgiveness lifted from their hearts. On Wednesday and Thursday, the variety night and worship night, respectively, were also awesome. The variety night was a time to fellowship with BCFers and to open the doors and for Christians on campus to minister through their talents. Our Director, Dr. George Ude was there that night and called on people to give up

ALL for Christ. Several people re-dedicated their lives to Christ and decided to give up their past for Christ. God had been so good!!! College Park was on Cloud Nine, everything was working perfectly, and finally it was Friday. I woke up to the raindrops hitting my room windows. Our

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2010—FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES Dr. George Ude—Director Deuteronomy 16:17 – Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.

R PTE HA ! C !! W NE LERT A Praise God! New chapters of BCF have begun at: George Washington University, Washington, DC,

Towson University, Towson, MD

Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD

Keep the brothers and sisters there in your prayers.

Everybody is blessed to give and to give in the measure that God has provided. ‗Each of you‘ suggests that nobody is too poor to be a part of this command. The rich and the poor, employed and unemployed, professors and students - all of us have received from the Lord and the Lord expects that we give towards His work on earth. Failing to give is to deny God‘s blessings. Many Christians, for wrong reasons, are afraid of fundraising but fundraising is as old as the scriptures. During the building of the Tabernacle, the Bible records that the people were called to give and they kept giving until there was enough for

the work. ‗And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work‘ Ex 36:6-7. The people were wiling to give. This is the season when we raise funds for the BCF annual leadership conference in Greensboro, North Carolina, which has been scheduled for February, 12-14th, 2010. We are expecting 400 students from about 23 colleges in attendance and the conference will cost about $35,000. In addition, we are planning to raise $40,000 to recruit two full time campus ministers to support discipleship activities in colleges where we currently have BCF. These ministers will also support the opening of new fellowship centers. There are many ways to be a part of fundraising. Every

successful fundraising endeavor must start with the individual‘s personal sacrifice offering to God. It is when you have made your sacrifice offering that you receive the grace to speak to people about supporting the project for which you labor. Not giving anything yourself and asking others to give amounts to hypocrisy. Fundraising activities provide us with the opportunity to share our testimony with those who are not in ministry with us. It also enables us to explain our vision to others and to bring them to partake in our ministry through giving. So, more than just asking for money, it is a time to tell others about the great things God is doing with your life and your ministry. When you are done speaking to somebody you would not only have proclaimed Jesus, but would

have explained what your mission is in life as touching kingdom business. It is not only about money, but also about sharing the gospel. You can use our official BCF fundraising letters or you can write your own. You can go to your local church and talk to your pastor and your congregation. You can also speak to people at your work or students in your dormitory. It is okay to send letters to companies and entities that support nonprofit organizations. BCF is a nonprofit organization (501c). Start now and do not wait until the last minute before you join the fundraising effort. Every conference participant will pay the $100 registration fee and also participate in other kinds of fundraising towards the $75,000.00 goal. Make sure you pray for favor from God before you talk to people for their support.

Marvelous Encounter was an OUTDOOR event! No shield or roof from the rain. How was it going to work? The Holy Spirit reminded me of the first Gethsemane Experience we had at College Park in 2008 with similar conditions. Rain? Yes. Flooding? Yes. Outdoor Event? Yes. He reminded me that He was the same God that stopped the rain and brought the sun out at the beginning of our event last year and He was the same God that could do it again! The BCF executive board members at College Park bound together in prayer throughout the day, believing that God would surprise us again.

ter the opening prayer, the Compelled Band began leading worship and it was still raining. As we were singing the last praise song, slowly but surely the raindrops stopped! By the time the Word was given by Minister Bruce Goodwin Jr., the grounds upon which we were sitting and stepping were quickly drying. As the wetness of the ground dried, the dryness of lost souls was being lifted. Not only did people come out to receive freedom, but the leaders of all BCF‘s in the state of Maryland and D.C. began ministering to and praying for the people who boldly came out. BCF‘s vision of raising reliable men of God for the next generation was demonstrated in truth that night.

There was only one problem— the program was about to start and it was still raining! ‗GOD WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SHOW ME?‘ I remember telling God, ―It doesn‘t matter if it starts pouring out here, we will still praise you and people will still be saved tonight‖. As the MC‘s, Niyi and Victoria opened the program, the rain continued to fall. I looked up to the sky and smiled. Af-

The turning point of the evening came with the special altar call for those who had been raped and molested; they were learning how to love again. Everyone left that night ON DRY GROUND. Brethren, we
