MUSICAL FAME EN PUERTO VALLARTA
De manera intensa desde el año pasado, los alumnos de la sección Secundaria del British American School ensayan la puesta en escena del musical Fame que se presentará el próximo domingo 11 de mayo en el Teatro Vallarta en dos funciones, a las 12:00pm y 7:00pm. El colegio British es reconocido por sus grandes musicales como ha sido el caso de Grease (Vaselina), Hairspray y Mamma Mia, que han causado sensación no solamente entre los padres y familiares de los protagonistas sino entre los asistentes del público en general y de la comunidad norteamericana avecindada en Puerto Vallarta. Fame narra la historia de un grupo de jóvenes que, luego de competidas audiciones, logran ingresar a la Academia de Artes de Nueva York, donde desarrollarán su talento mientras se enfrentan al reto de vencer sus miedos y sacar lo mejor de sí mismos en el escenario. Músicos, cantantes, bailarines estarán en escena interpretando una serie de números musicales, tocando instrumentos y cantando en vivo, para lo que ensayan arduamente varias horas a la semana. Todos los viernes tienen taller de educación artística y los sábados dedican una parte del día a repasar los diálogos, a ensayar sus instrumentos y a vocalizar además de pintar escenografías, mientras los estudiantes del taller de comunicación y periodismo diseñan la estrategia de promoción de la obra. Además de ello, los jóvenes comunicadores y publicistas aprendieron a escribir noticias y entrevistas, preparan volantes, carteles y anuncios para difundir, han organizado tómbolas y actividades de recaudación de fondos y ya preparan el programa de mano para los asistentes a esta presentación teatral. La obra se presenta en inglés pero los números musicales y las coreografías pueden ser ampliamente disfrutadas incluso por quien no domine esa lengua, por lo que la invitación es abierta al público en general. Vengan a descubrir por qué un clásico de los 80 se ha convertido en una obra indispensable para entender cómo se combinan la disciplina y el talento en el desarrollo de las artes. “FAME” THE MUSICAL, IN PUERTO VALLARTA
Intensely, since a year ago, middle school students from the British American School have been practicing the play of Fame, the musical that will be presented this coming Sunday, May 11th at the Vallarta Theatre in two presentations, at 12:00pm and 7:00pm. The British American School is known for its great musicals such as Grease, Hairspray and Mamma Mia that have caused great sensation not only amongst parents and relatives of the main characters, but among all the attendees and the North American community living in Puerto Vallarta. Fame tells us the story of a group of young people that, after competed auditions, they get into the Academy of Arts in New York where they develop their talent while they face the challenge to overcome their fears and get the best of themselves on stage. Musicians, singers and dancers will be on stage interpreting a series of musical numbers playing instruments and singing live, that is why they practice hard many hours per week. Every Friday they have an artistic education shop and on Saturdays they spend part of the day practicing the dialogues, playing their instruments and vocalizing, besides painting sceneries, while other students at the communication’s and reporter’s shop design a strategy to promote the play. Besides, the young communicators and publicists learnt to write news articles and interviews, they prepared brochures and adds, they have organized raffles and fund raising activities and are now preparing the hand program for the attendants to the theatrical presentation. The play will be presented in English but the musical numbers and the choreographies can be widely enjoyed even by those who are not fluent in English, so the invitation is open to the public in general. Come and discover why this classical play from the 80’s has become a must to understand how discipline and talent combine in the development of the arts.
