DAVID LANGE David Lange has been the karate instructor for Baytown Parks and Recreation since 2015. Mr. Lange is a member of the American Society of Karate (A.S.K.), an organization which seeks to teach American Karate to ages 5-80 years in a positive, ever-changing system. Since receiving his black belt in 1994, he has continued to expand his skill set and currently holds a 5th level black belt.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Mr. Lange works with a great team of black and brown belts that assist in teaching his classes, and says that they are a vital part in the sucess of his classes. Mr. Lange lives in LaPorte, but enjoys the opportunity to give back to the community where his oldest son and grandchildren live. “The main reason I have stayed and taught for so many years is because of the children and those that want to learn the aspect of karate,” Mr. Lange said. “I teach children of all ages (5 and up). I have had few students that started when they were five and six and went on to get their black belt. Having them go all the way through the program makes me proud as an instructor to see they accomplished a goal they set out for themselves. A.S.K.’s motto is ‘Whatever it Takes,’ this is something I live by every day.” In addition to karate classes, Mr. Lange also hosts a free self defense class three times a year at the Baytown Community Center. The next scheduled self defense class will take place on Saturday, July 27 (see page 22 for more information.)
