Here you will see impressive and enigmatic buildings constructed by cleverly carved stones that fit together with flawless precision, creating an ancient, yet at the same time almost futuristic architecture. From the city we visit the emblematic Inca Sanctuary; Machu Picchu‘s citadel. Next, we continue towards the fertile lands of the Sacred Valley, where we visit the Cyclopean ruins of old Inca temples and palaces, as well as the amazingly colourful indigeneous markets. From Lima - the city of the Spanish viceroys, we fly to Cusco; the heart of the Inca Empire. Megalithic Inca walls form the foundations of huge buildings and baroque churches from the colonial period. The hills beyond the city and throughout the Sacred Valley are studded with the enigmatic ruins of ancient temples and palaces. From Cusco we journey by train to Machu Picchu; once the focus of a lost Inca province, now the most significant archaeological site in the Americas. Valley. Endurance : 11 days / 10 nights Departure : Every Day Cod : ILT-TOP11D Experience a journey from the hugely diverse Amazon basin to the magnificent Andean highlands of Peru. Discover the bio-diverse sanctuary of Tambopata National Reserve, which provides a variety of water and land adventures to introduce you into the wonders of the Southern Amazon rain forest; from taking a boat down the river to strolling under the forest canopy, spotting exotic birds, insects and wild animals, to the spectacular nature of the wilderness. Being transported from the Amazon to the Andes you will find yourself in Cusco; once the heart of the great Inca empire and today a fascinating blend of 16th century European architecture and the true legacy of the Incas. Away from the city you will visit the Sacred Valley; ringed by snow-capped peaks and still inhabited by the ancestors of those who built its many temples and palaces. Beyond the valley, Machu Picchu lies surrounded by tropical forests in which it remained hidden from the world and undiscovered for five centuries. From there you will head south to the sacred shores of Lake Titicaca, with its remote islands, living culture and fascinating archaeological remains. This is a truly memorable expedition. Day 3 : AMAZON RAINFOREST Rest in bed or rise early, breakfast begins at 5:30 a.m. to avoid the heat and enjoy nature at its best. You will then continue on your excursion of Sandoval Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve, returning to your lodge for lunch. Day 11: PUNO / CUSCO Transfer to the bus station for your first class bus to Cusco. This day long bus journey takes you past snow-covered peaks and through high and wide Andean valleys where llamas graze on spiky grass. As you pass by villages with cobblestone streets and you will see the locals making adobe bricks by hand. On our way to Cusco we will visit La Raya; the highest point between Cusco and Puno (3800 metres / 14234 feet), the litho-sculptures of Pukara, Raqchi and the temple of the God Wiracocha and Andahuaylillas. We also see the church of Andahuaylillas; known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of America’. It is known as one of the best- preserved examples of Andean religious art. Upon arrival in Cusco you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco. Meals: (B, L) *Pease note: You may upgrade this journey by taking the train operated by the famous Orient Express. Train departures are on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday each week. The service also operates on Fridays from April-October. Additional costs apply. Day 12: CUSCO This morning is free to spend at leisure. In the afternoon we take our tour of Cusco. You will visit: the cathedral, Qorichancha (the temple of the sun) and the four nearby ruins: Qénko, Puca Pucara and Sacsayhuaman. Overnight stay in Cusco. Meals: (B)


Day 13: CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY Today we enjoy a day excursion to the Sacred Valley. We visit the colourful indigenous market of Pisac and also the archaeological site of Pisac. After sampling a delicious buffet lunch, we visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. At the end of the tour you will be returned to your hotel. Overnight stay in Sacred Valley. Meals: (B, L) Day 14: SACRED VALLEY / Machu Picchu

Morning transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo for your 1 and a half hour Vista-Dome train journey to Machu Picchu Town (Aguas Calientes). Enjoy your 3 hour guided tour of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary with your personal guide. Overnight stay in Machu Picchu Town. Meals: (B) Day 15: Machu Picchu / CUSCO This morning is free for you to spend at leisure. In the afternoon we take the VistaDome train for our return to Poroy, Cusco. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco. Meals: (B) Day 16: CUSCO / RAINFOREST Transfer to the airport for your flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival In the Amazon you will be transferred to your lodge by boat. You can then spend time relaxing and soaking up the incredible atmosphere of the rainforest. In the evening you can enjoy a night exploration, searching for caiman’s crocodile at the river’s edge. Overnight stay at the Jungle Lodge. Meals: (B, box lunch, D) Day 17: AMAZON RAINFOREST This morning we visit the Sachavacayoc Oxbow Lake searching for the resident family of five giant river otters. After a delicious locally prepared lunch, we visit a local farmer who cultivates many medicinal plants and other corps. In the evening we take a night walk to spot mammals. Lodging in the Jungle Lodge. Meals: (B,L,D) Day 18: AMAZON RAINFOREST Today we visit a parakeet clay lick and a peccary clay lick. We also walk the 25metre scaffolding canopy tower. In the evening you can enjoy an interesting lecture about the Amazon. Lodging in the Jungle Lodge. Meals: (B,L,D)

Day 19: AMAZON / LIMA After breakfast we return by boat to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport. Flight to Lima and transfer to your hotel with the afternoon free to spend as you wish. Overnight stay in Lima. Meals: (B) Day 20: LIMA DEPARTURE This morning is free to spend at your leisure. In the afternoon you can enjoy a city tour of Lima. Evening transfer to the airport for connection with your international flight.
