Comfort Through Friends Baskets of Care offers peer support through volunteers who are also breast cancer survivors. We also regularly host our special “Night of Empowerment Intimacy and Cancer Program”.

Baskets of Care was founded by breast cancer survivor Gail Cooper, who was diagnosed in September 2009. After recognizing an unmet need for support at the time of diagnosis and a lack of information and emotional support for patients, Gail created Baskets of Care in 2010, patterned after a breast cancer support program in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. Baskets of Care is led by a volunteer board of directors and is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.

The mission of Baskets of Care is to provide help and hope to people newly diagnosed with breast cancer and help them to traverse the confusing and frightening journey through radiation, chemotherapy, surgery and recovery. Over 4,300 bags have been gifted.

Bag for men Our Comfort Care Bags help to answer the immediate questions patients often have about their new breast cancer diagnosis, pending surgery and follow-up care. The contents offer comfort, care, and support during a breast cancer survivor’s journey to recovery. Our Comfort Care Bags are packed by volunteers and gifted to newly diagnosed patients through our many partnerships in the breast care medical community, including surgeons and oncologists across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
