Who is this course for?
What will I study?
This qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills that will aid learners to improve a wide range of leadership and managerial skills necessary for the effective management of a health and social care setting. The Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship framework is specifically designed for a wide range of professionals working as adults’ residential managers, adults’ managers and adults’ advanced practitioners in adult social care.
To study for the Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship, learners must attend classes fortnightly for 1.5 hours on a Wednesday evening, over the duration of their studies and achieve 90 credits.
What qualifications or experience do I need? A successful applicant will need to be working as a manager, deputy manager or as an advanced practitioner in a health and social care setting. This is a broad description and therefore, the individual experiences and/or roles will be discussed in detail during an interview. All candidates must hold Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications (GCSE or equivalent).
How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through course work and a number of practical assessments in the working environment.

What qualifications could I achieve? In addition to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, you may also progress on to a BA (Hons) Health and Social Care qualification through a University Work Based Learning partner.
What can the course lead to? After successful completion of the above programme, students are equipped to progress onto more senior roles in the Health and Social Care sector.
