Who is this course for? This course has been developed to teach the creative design and technology skills needed for a successful career in today’s fast paced fashion industry.

What will I study? The course is designed to prepare students to work in the advanced fashion and associated design industry and will equip you with practical experience and a complete understanding of the latest design, culture and technology along with the cutting edge production methods used in the competitive world of the global fashion industry. This is combined with all the traditional illustration and design methodology needed to provide a complete skill set for today’s demanding fashion business. The course will prepare you with an advanced understanding of fashion design and culture and the knowledge of how to achieve the industry requirements by turning creative ideas into market ready products for the industries behind the high street fashion retailers producing a new stock cycle every six weeks and four major collections every year. The course is delivered in modules that focus on specific areas that include: Drawing and Illustration skills, Design theory, historical and contextual studies 22

in fashion, pattern cutting and garment construction, fashion and cultural trends, fashion media and communication, creative marketing and promotion and fashion branding. In year two you will have the opportunity to complete a period of study in Beijing, China with our partner college. You will experience cutting edge design and manufacturing technology in practice where your initial idea is developed through to a finalised design and then produced as a garment utilising both the latest manufacturing methods of the mass market and the highly skilled hand crafted techniques necessary for the luxury highend market. During your time China you will benefit from:

n Understanding how and where most of the worlds garments are now produced to inform their future design and fabrication methods. n Taking the opportunity to engage with new ideas and cultural experiences that will develop and broaden their design practice.

What qualifications or experience do I need? You will need 280 UCAS points and 5 GCSE’s at grade C (3/4) or above including maths and English.

How will I be assessed? 100% coursework including presentations, written assignments and individual creative projects.
