Finance Officer 21 hours per week Chief Executive Officer NJC Scale SO1 SP 29, £27,945 pa (£16,767pro rata) 5% of salary 5 weeks (pro rata) + bank holidays

Introduction: The City & Hackney Carers Centre provides support, information and advice to carers living in Hackney and the City of London. Job summary: The postholder is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the City & Hackney Carers Centre to trial balance. Working relationships: The postholder is a member of the Carers Centre team, and as such will be expected to attend team meetings and participate in other Carers Centre activities, as required. S/he works closely with the Carers Centre’s Treasurer and the CEO. Responsibilities 1. Bookkeeping to trial balance using sales, purchase and nominal ledgers, journals and cashbooks on SAGE accounting system. 2. Collation and preparation of payroll information for external processing. 3. Preparation and processing of Sales Ledger invoices 4. Processing of Sales Ledger receipts and credit control. 5. Maintaining the purchase ledger - entering suppliers’ invoices on the system ensuring that they are properly authorized, preparing cheques at the appropriate time, arranging signature and dispatching 6. Bank reconciliation and maintenance of petty cash 7. Nominal Ledger postings 8. Cash Flow analysis 9. Assisting with budget preparation 10. Preparation of financial reports as required by the CEO and Treasurer 11. Quarterly and end of year accounts 12. Any other duties as reasonably required by the CEO.

Essential requirements 1. Part-qualified ACCA or other CCAB (or AAT qualified) 2. Good general computer literacy with a good knowledge of the Windows environment and its applications, especially Word and Excel 3. Experience of SAGE (preferably Instant Accounts plus 2) 4. Ability to communicate with a range of people 5. Methodical approach and ability to maintain accurate and transparent data systems 6. Attention to detail and accuracy 7. Ability to multi-task 8. Ability to work on own initiative 9. A willingness to work as part of a team, and to work to City & Hackney Carers Centre policies and procedures. 10. An understanding of Charity funding and ability to manage accounts from a variety of funders
