MADRID BARBARIANS R.F.C. NEWSLETTER
NUMBER 9. JANUARY 2014
HAPPY NEW SECOND ROUND As we were celebrating the new year we were closing the leagues’ first rounds with both victories from our teams, against Arquitectura (7-29) in first division and against a tough Alcorcón (19-14) in fourth. What a better way to start 2014! The start of the second rounds have turn out quite uneven for our two teams; while the Gloriuos Seconds keep on the track of victories after beating Avila in a freezing cold
revenge and blasting Valdemoro (546) in a match where nearly every player had the chance to score, our top league team hasn’t managed to win any of their two matches. We must say that we have played against two of the top teams in first division, CRC and XV Hortaleza. In the first match CRC brought many players from their División de Honor’s team (Atletico de Madrid) and although we didn’t have many chances to play the ball, our defense was solid enough to avoid disaster and managed to
walk out the pitch with our heads up. Against XV Hortaleza, we just lost against a better organised team who played better rugby, and who hardly let us play the ball. We’ve dropped from second to fifth position in first division and we still need lots of work in training if we want to finish in the top. Baabaas B are in third position, but most of all, they’re seem to be enjoying every single minute of their matches. Keep on the track, and well done.

REMEMBER SOME TIPS TO CREATE A GOOD LOGO As this logo has to be embroided in play ing kits an other merchandising items, you should keep on mind the following:
• Keep it as simple as possible • Don’t use more than three colours • Avoid grading colours • Do something that can be identified at a first glance
Send us your proposal for the new Madrid Barbarians logo before February 28th! This is open for everybody: players, explayers, supporters, friends,... Send your proposal to Mike (michael@tasman.es) in any format you like, even a hand-drawned sketch with what you think it would be a good logo for the Madrid Baabaas. All the proposals will be published in March for voting between all the big Madrid Barbarians community.
