MADRID BARBARIANS R.F.C. NEWSLETTER
NUMBER 7. OCTOBER 2013
October, unbeaten! After a weak start in the first league match for both teams, it seems that october has been a solid demonstration of our two teams potencial. Three victories in a row for each team has consolidated them in the third position of both First and Fourth Divisions.
the new tactics and skills we’ve been working with Angel from the begining of the season are starting to show up in our games.
attendance is being one of the most valuable factors for playing in first división”, so there’s nothing new to say on this and everybody knows what to do.
As our new head coach keeps saying “Selecting players for the first team is Let’s keep this pace of hard working, becoming a hard decision every week and victories will still be coming on as the level is increasing every day their own. Well done lads! We have still a long way to go and and nearly all positions have two or hard teams to play against, but all three serious candidates, so training

Co d e o f Co n d u c t Rugby’s traditions of camaraderie, associating with the opposition after games, fair play and sportsmanship is one of the main differentiations between Rugby and other sports, and an important reason that attracts people to the game. Remember that you represent Madrid Barbarians RFC on and off the field and your conduct and behavior can positively or negatively affect your team, club and rugby’s reputation as a sport. Before introducing the different rules of behavior for matches, training sessions and social events, there are a few general codes that everyone involved in the Club should respect: - We play to enjoy ourselves. - We respect the “Game of Rugby” and play respecting the regulations of the game. - We win with dignity and loose with grace. - We respect the oppossing team, referees and all participants. - We treat our team mates, opposition and referees the same way we would like to be treated by them. 1. Matches Matches start at meeting time and finish when third half is finished. Meeting point and time - Be on time at meeting point, and if you are going to be late let your coach or captain know with plenty time. - Offer your vehicle to take (and return) players, coaches and supporters to the match premises. Game - Ensure that you are always dressed in the correct and clean Madrid Barbarians uniform to all games. You are responsible for your uniform. - Bring official identification (Passport, ID, driving license) - There is no dissension or arguing amongst the team members during a game. - Don’t talk back to the ref. The team captain only is allowed to ask for clarifications. - Play with control and don’t loose your temper. - Play hard but fairly, and never intend to hurt your opponent.
- Accept your coaches and captain decissions. - Keep a positive attitude during the whole game. - Show respect for the oppositions supporters. - On the bench, leave the tactical instructions to the coach and attend your delegado’s instructions. - At the conclusion of the game, the opponents are to be thanked for the game as should the referee and officials who have made the game possible. - Supporters should always show repect for the opposition players and supporters. - Supporters and players should avoid swearing, specially if there are children around. Third half - Dress correctly to attend third halves. Club tie should be worn. - Be participant in the third half activities. - Talk to the opposition and referee and have fun with them. 2. Training - Madrid Barbarians train on Tuesdays (20:00 to 22:00) and Fridays (20:30 to 22:00). - Training sessions are for your personal fitness and game skills improvement, but also for the team’s improvement in game set, that is why your attendance to every training session is important, even if you are not playing the following match. - If you can’t attend a training session or you have an injury situation that is going to keep you off training for some time, let yor coach know. - Let you coach and captain know about your availability for matches. - There is no dissension or arguing amongst the team members during a trainig session. - Train with control, don’t loose your temper and try not to hurt your team mates. 3. Social events - Social events are organized to socialize with Club memebers, their friends and families, and also to raise funds for the Club, that is why your attendance is important. - Dress correctly to attend social events. Follow the dress-code for each event. - Behave yourself as a Madrid Barbarian and show respect to your team mates, friends and families.
