Following a lot of hard work in the continuous maintenance of the Parish Field over the summer, WFC started pre season training in June. The opening Pre-Season Friendly was a mouthwatering fixture against the top senior team in the area, Hastings United FC (who were beaten by Middlesbrough FC in last seasons FA Cup); since the fire this has become an annual Pre-Season fixture. The result was a 4-2 win for WFC watched by a crowd of over 150. This game has been followed by a 3-2 win over Langley Wanders away and a 2-1 defeat by Colliers Wood at the Parish Field. The reserve team has also started with a 2-1 reverse against Hastings United Reserves. The 3rd and many youth teams start their fixtures later, in August / September. The 1st team start their Sussex County League Division 2 fixtures with a home game at the Parish Field on Saturday 10 August, with the Reserves in the Sussex County League Reserve Section East and the newly promoted 3rd Team following runners up in the East Sussex League Division 5 last year and youth teams starting in September. Any prospective new players or supporters of any age are always welcome, for further details please contact the secretary Mrs Gill Attewell on

MARS MILK FUND AWARD Westfield Football Club is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Fund. The club, which has been around for more than 100 years, recently had to give up its youth teams’ beloved village football pitch due to new FA regulations. The loss of the pitch meant that each team member had to travel six miles for their home matches, putting a strain on the parents of the players. Earlier this year, a generous Westfield resident donated a patch of land to turn into a brand new pitch for the team and the local school. Scott Webb, Manager of Westfield Youth Team, says: “The local support for the club has been fantastic! It is this support which helped us to secure the most votes to win the MARS Milk Fund’s People’s Choice Award. We are delighted with the donation of the land and we have worked hard with local farmers to plough, grade and seed the land. “With this donation from the MARS Milk Fund we can pay for mowers and equipment to look after it, which will be vital for helping us to keep it in shape.”
