Christmas Safety Keeping your furry family members safe during the holidays can be a difficult task. There are the ornaments, plants, presents, lights -- oh, and who could forget the Christmas tree (if do you decide to put one up this year)? Let's take a look at some simple steps that will allow your pets to join in the holiday fun this year, while avoiding any trips to the animal emergency room. Great Holiday Tips: 1. Did you know holly, mistletoe, and poinsettia plants are poisonous to dogs or cats? If you normally use these plants to decorate your home, they should be kept in an area your pet cannot reach. 2. Edible tree decorations -- whether they be ornaments, or cranberry or popcorn strings -- are like time bombs waiting to happen. These goodies are just too enticing and your pet will surely tug at them, knocking down your wonderfully decorated spruce. 3. Burning candles should be placed on high shelves or mantels, out of your pet's way -- there's no telling where a wagging tail may end up. Homes with fireplaces should use screens to avoid accidental burns. 4. To prevent any accidental electrocutions, any exposed indoor or outdoor wires should be taped to the wall or the sides of the house. 5. When gift wrapping, be sure to keep your pet away. Wrapping paper, string, plastic, or cloth could cause intestinal blockages. Scissors are another hazard, and they should be kept off floors or low tables. We don't want to ruin all your holiday decorating fun. By all means, go crazy sprucing up your home and wrapping presents. But make sure you do in a way that is safe for your pet(s) this holiday season. For this article and more visit: http://www.petmd.com/dog/seasonal/evr_multi_christmas_safety

Meet Coby! This cutie is just a baby (DOB: Sept. 23 2016) and he is a darling little love! He is brother to Biggy Figgy, Cerie, Benry Henry, Clay, Cochran, Ethan, Jonas, Kassandra, Ozzy and Shamo! His breed is mostly a guess - we know that his mother is a 60 pound labrador cross. This cutie is originally from a reserve up north and we are unsure of his father or the mix of his mother. We are assuming that he is going to be a large boy. His new family will need to be prepared to teach him his manners and obedience, as well as provide a good amount of exercise and stimulation to keep this handsome man happy!

BAPS Board of Directors and Staff would like to give a HUGE thank you to PetValu Brooks for holding a donation drive for us in the month of October. Between the kindness of the store and the amazing support of their customers, their “Thanks for Giving” event ended up in a donation of nearly $5,000.00 worth of pet food, toys, bedding, treats and more to the animals we house and care for. All was much needed and greatly appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who donated!

Meet Brandon! This one-year-old goofball as a heck ton of personality! Brandon is a very outgoing, social butterfly who well, pretty much loves everyone and everything, ever. He is also very playful and goofy - he just LOVES chasing things (Especially feather wands). He'll make you laugh for hours. This lovebug is not only a goofy ball of energy…He is very snuggly and affectionate as well! He'd be a great fit for almost any home.

Cinderella

Cinderella is doing great!! She loves going outside on the deck and meowing at people passing by. She loves her cuddles with her mom (and whoever else is willing to give her all the attention). She’s quite spoiled and absolutely hates if she can see any part of the bottom of her food bowl. She loves being around people…a bit of a social butterfly! We all love her so much and she is the purrfect fit for us!

Diggle

As each day goes by, this crazy, young pup is getting closer to being one-year-old! It’s creeping up fast! Originally Diggle was a foster pup. BAPS had received a litter of puppies at a very young age and were in need of fosters and I was in the middle of convincing my son that we were not going to get another puppy…I thought fostering would curb the puppy craving. Instead, we became foster failures! Diggle LOVES car rides! If he can sit up front and watch everything, he is one happy boy! He enjoys walking, but we are still working on leash manners. He has become a pretty good football player with my son in the living room. He even sort of likes the cat! He isn’t much of a cuddler, BUT don’t try to move too far away from him! I love that I have gotten to watch this pup grow up every day! We love our little Diggle!
