M y name is Uyen and I am an Interior Designer. One of my fondest childhood memories is spending summers traveling to the countryside to visit my relatives. They lived in stilt houses in mountainous regions, cottages in coastal regions, and even a semi-floating house on the Mekong River. These trips sparked my interest in the diversity of living spaces and their unique environmental, historical, and cultural elements. This led me to study Interior Design at the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, with the goal of creating stunning, well-being, and sustainable living spaces.

This portfolio showcases my professional work, highlighting my focus on Hospitality and Residential.

02.1 THE IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURE

The design of a building should take into account both the surrounding environment and cultural considerations. Even though similar design approaches may be used, incorporating these factors can lead to a more unique and comprehensive outcome. Cultural considerations, such as history and religion, can add value to the design, while focusing on the contemporary site context can bring new perspectives.

02.2 ENHANCEMENT OF POSITIVE ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES

Interior and exterior design should be seamlessly integrated. A beautiful interior design is most effective when it enhances and complements the architectural features of the building’s surroundings.

02.4 THE RELATIONSHIP OF ACTIVITIES AND SPACES.

The intrigue of a project lies in the interplay between all the activities and experiences that occur within it. Conducting further research on its operation can help optimize its usage and ultimately deliver greater value to the design. By understanding the functional and operational aspects of a project, we can create spaces that not only look good, but are also efficient and enjoyable to use.

02.3 BE TRUE TO MATERIAL

Materials should be chosen to enhance viewer’s sensory experience and tell emotional stories. Materials’ natural characteristics should be highlighted to create a meaningful and authentic connection with the environment and users. Selection should be based not only on aesthetics and technical properties but also on the ability to evoke emotions and create a sense of place.

IMPERIAL HOUSE 03.1

The “Architecture no architecture” design approach, incorporates historical and natural heritage while exploring traditional characteristics in modern architecture. The objective is to fully utilize the site’s potential and provide a high standard of service. The new construction is blended into the surrounding nature, giving a panoramic view from the top roof. The functional spaces are arranged at different levels according to the topography and connected by green roof layers. The layers allow sunlight, wind, and tree shadows to penetrate, creating a unique and harmonious environment.

LOBBY

As I stand within this space, I am struck by a sense of timelessness. It feels as though it has always existed, yet I can never fully grasp its essence. It’s as if it emerged out of nowhere, gradually becoming a part of me. The space seems to have its own energy, life, and story to tell, one that I can only begin to imagine

LOUNGE

Nature never ceases to amaze, with its ability to evoke a range of emotions, from peaceful serenity to awe-inspiring grandeur. Sometimes, it is in the simplest moments that nature truly shines, such as in the soothing sound of waves lapping against the shore, the gentle rustle of wind through the trees, and the refreshing aroma of nature. These small details combine to create a sense of tranquility and connection with the natural world. It reminds us of the power and beauty that lies just outside our doorsteps, waiting to be discovered and appreciated

It all begins with a hint of uncertainty, yet it is captivating. The exploration of the unknown is even more enthralling, as we delve deeper. We come across an unusual light, a blend of plants, water, and sun, and it evokes a sense of freedom within us. The journey of discovery is thrilling and it’s the unknown that makes it so exciting.

VILLA

Under the dappled shade of a tree, the street is cooled as the soothing sound of waves crashing against the sandy beach plays like an endless melody, enhancing the beauty and richness of the sea. The combination of the natural elements creates a harmonious symphony, inviting one to pause and take in the serene surroundings. The sound of the waves, the salty sea breeze, the warmth of the sun, and the coolness of the shade, all come together to create a truly magical experience. It is moments

BLUSH-THE BEACH 03.2

We live in an era where global destination markets are becoming increasingly prevalent. Blush aims to not only create the premier beach entertainment destination in Vietnam but also a regional hub for music, culture, food, and the celebration of life, catering to the entire Southeast Asian market. The desire for leisure, delicious food and drink, and good company is a universal trait in our increasingly connected world. Blush is not only a community hub for the Danang-Hoi An area, but a destination for people from all over the world to come and indulge in the good life.

FUSION MAIA 03.3

Following the sun rays as they dance across the ground, the trees, the rocks, and the shoulders, is like being lulled into a dream-like state. The gentle touch of the sun’s warmth, like a mother’s hand, cools away the scorching heat of the Central Coast, while the ocean breeze provides a refreshing and invigorating touch. It’s a sensory experience that is both calming and invigorating, the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The natural beauty of the place, the warmth of the sun, the sound of the ocean and the smell of salt air, all come together to create a truly magical experience that can only be found in this special corner of the world.

Crashing into the vastness of the ocean . . . ”

The inspiration behind the design is to create a unique and authentic experience by incorporating local materials, rough chunks of rocks, and warm color palettes that are found naturally near the ocean. The use of yellow sand as a finishing touch is the ultimate culmination of this coastal aesthetic. These elements come together to form a cohesive and harmonious design that truly encapsulates the essence of the coastal environment. It is a celebration of the natural beauty and the local culture, creating a sense of place and belonging.
