Artist Profiles Bozena Czyz B o z e n a s t u d i e d a r c h i t e c t u r e a t T h e S i l e s i a n U n i v e r s i t y o f Te c h n o l o g y i n P o l a n d a n d n o w l i v e a n d work in London. Despite her architectural education, art has always been present in her life and has a significant influence on her perception of the world.

As an artist, Bozena seeks to create dramatic impressions through strong contrast, vibrant c o l o u r s , d e n s e m a s s o f p a i n t a n d v a r i o u s t e x t u r e s . R e c e n t l y, s h e h a s c o n c e n t r a t e d o n m o r e abstract painting, which is her personal expression of resonance with inner consciousness and the reflection of states of mind. Her art is about feelings and emotions, about dreams and hope... a b o u t p a s s i o n a n d j o y. . . a b o u t l o n e l i n e s s , f e a r a n d l o s s .

The layers of paint on canvas through colours, textures and shapes articulate the essence of our abstract thoughts and feelings. There are some elements of her paintings formed by ‘uncontrolled p a i n t m o v e m e n t s ’ . A l l o w i n g p a i n t t o g o i t s o w n w a y, t o n a t u r a l l y f i l l t h e c a n v a s a d d a u n i q u e , unexpected element to Bozena’s work.

Judith Moule Judith studied a Fine Arts degree at the University of Hertfordshire, graduating in 2002. She t h e n w e n t t o Wa t f o r d C o l l e g e w h e r e s h e g a i n e d a d i p l o m a i n p e r s o n a l d e v e l o p m e n t i n p r i n t i n g .

Judith’s artwork is based on a exploration of the landscape in a semi-abstract form. It is an investigation into divergent and complementary forms, their compositional as well as abstract relationships within the natural landscape. The work is primarily about mark making and records the textures and the traces of the landscape, a human experience of the land, rather than its m a t e r i a l p r e s e n c e . T h e p r o c e s s o f l a y e r i n g w i t h p a i n t a n d m a t e r i a l f e a t u r e s c o n s i d e r a b l y, a s w i t h t h e s t r a t u m w i t h i n t h e l a n d s c a p e , t h u s f o r m i n g i t s o w n h i s t o r y.

Jeanette Barnes Jeanette Barnes was born in Lancashire in 1961. She studied for BA Hons Fine Art Liverpool Polytechnic 1980-83, post-graduate painting Royal Academy Schools 1984-87 and MA printmaking Royal College of Art 1987-89. During this time she was awarded John Moores, Henry Moore and Richard Ford scholarships. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions including several times at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Hunting Group, Drawings For All, Cleveland Drawing Biennale and Jerwood Drawing. Jeanette was a prize-winner in the Royal Academy Summer E x h i b i t i o n , Ly n n P a i n t e r S t a i n e r s , D i s c e r n i n g E y e , H u n t i n g G r o u p , D r a w i n g s F o r A l l a n d J e r w o o d Drawing. Her work is represented in public, corporate and private collections.

Jeanette’s practice engages with the constant development within the urban environment. She is fascinated by the way vast architectural projects are changing the nature and demography of given areas. These drawings are not about one single moment, but a combination of ideas and experiences, bringing together the most interesting aspects from different sketches to create the final piece. These works take many months, changing and developing, content evolving and surprising conclusions being made. Through these pieces Jeanette wants to generate that sense o f e n e r g y a n d e x c i t e m e n t w h i c h i s r e p r e s e n t a t i v e o f b e i n g p a r t o f t h e c i t y.

Marine Crozel Marine Crozel is a visual artist and graphic designer based in East London. She grew up in the South of France, where an equally artistic mother urged her to pursue her personal creative venture. She has studied graphic design and completed a Master degree in Visual Conception at t h e E C V P a r i s i n 2 0 11 w i t h a s p e c i a l i s a t i o n i n p u b l i s h i n g .

Marine works with found objects, materials and photography unveiling a process whereby the arrival, destruction and fusion of visual elements give birth to worlds with parallel atmospheres.

I n s p i r e d b y t h e w o r l d a r o u n d h e r, f a s c i n a t e d b y s t r a n g e t h i n g s , m a d n e s s , b l a c k a n d w h i t e a n d t h e human condition, Marine travels whilst throwing shapes and lines. Her work is never pre-planned, it is always a constant evolution.

Artist Profiles Pam Foley Pam has been a free-lance professional sculptor and visual artist for three decades. Since moving to the UK she has maintained a sculpture studio practice near Banbury for nearly 20 years.

Before moving here from her native USA, she first earned a BSc degree in Criminal Justice before switching careers in her late 20’s to Ceramics/Art. She briefly attended the California College of the Arts before earning two degrees from Laney College in Oakland, California: one in Ceramics and another one in Arts and Humanities. While there and in addition to a studio practice, she t a u g h t c e r a m i c s t o a d u l t s a n d c h i l d r e n i n S a n F r a n c i s c o a n d a r o u n d t h e E a s t B a y. H e r g r e a t e s t influence has been the work of Niki de Saint Phalle. She also admires the work of Manzu and Manual Neri.

Pam specialises in abstract reinterpretations of the human form, creating pieces that reflect the themes of solitudes and fleeting thoughts or emotions. In her studio she works in clay and plaster to produce original sculptures from which she makes moulds, and resin and wax casts.
