The First Day of Class Coming from a different major, Psychology, I was extremely nervous on the first day. Everyone in the class seemed so experienced and Mr. Machado was slightly intimidating at first. However, when we began to work on our first assignment, which was making funny noun and verb pairings, I felt at ease. I had a realization that this class was supposed to be fun, an experience, a place for me to challenge myself and grow. My heart stopped racing, and I stopped worrying about if I was going to be “good enough” for this class.

Over the course of the semester, I have suprised myself with each project. How quickly I can come up with ideas, how I can recognize mistakes but not fault myself for them.

I learned so much more than just digital design.

Six Word Memoirs

Sketches and AI Generation

Inspiration: I now find myself diving head on into my first digital art project! For this project we were instructed to create two, 6 word memoirs with an appropriate piece of AI generation to match. My ideas for my memoirs came to my head almost instantly: I knew I wanted to incorporate two important events in my life.

My first memior was related to my two car accidents. My second memoir was dedicated to my favorite perfume, which reminds me of my family. Before this class, I had never opened photoshop a day in my life. I was familiar with editing concepts on iPhone, however. I was nervous, but the tutorials and constat help provided by Mr. Machado was extremely beneficiaal.

Typographic Abstraction

Inspiration: The inspiration behind my word choices was inspired by my favorite people. Myself, my boyfriend, Luke, and my dog, Jasper. I tried to replicate the personality of each individual with a specific font. I had so much fun streching and moving the letters around. It was actually really cool to see what abstract shapes were created. When we were finished with our projects, we co,bined them together as a class to create one big typographic abstraction.

Inspiration: For this project, I really wanted to incorporate a scrapbook style. I wanted it to look clut-

tered. The vision was more of a natural feel, but with modern elements included. I had so much fun bringing this project to life.

Project 4 Character Logos

Inspiration: For this project, we were challenged to create logos for characters within the same cinematic universe. The idea immediately came to my head to do the characters from the hit video game and movie, Five Nights at Freddys.

I enjoyed being creative in this project as well as being able to draw out and plan my design on paper. After my rough sketched, I had a plan for what I wanted to do with my characters, as well as which one I wanted to pick. I decided to do characters with slight contrast, Freddy Fazbear and Chica.

I had some difficulty with this project when trying to figure out which colors should be black or white. But over some time and with some help from classmates, I believe I did these characters justice. I gave them childlike joy and inspiration, as well as including core elements from the characters.

Project 5 Syntax and Semantics

Inspiration: This project was probably the easiest one to date.

The thing I enjoy most about this class is the creative freedom I get to choose what I want to do my project about. I’ve been having a recent obsession with purses, so I thought this would be the perfect idea for this project. I picked four different luxury brands of purses and I really enjoyed being able to write about their stylistic features. I always enjoy writing so this project was a fun and easy way to sharpen my mind and get more familiar with InDesign.
