s one season passes and a new season follows, I have been reminded of the changing seasons of life. I remember when our son took his first bus ride to school. In many ways that seems like only a few months ago, I have that image of him frozen in my mind. Every parent knows what I am describing. Nothing stays the same, seasons come and go and so do nearly all manner of things. As summer gives way to the crisp and cool days of autumn, it serves as a reminder that before one knows it, Jack Frost will soon makes his appearance. We all have particular seasons that we like better than others. One powerful thing about living in Michigan is the changes of seasons are a constant reminder of the change and challenges of life. In the midst of an ever changing life landscape, there is one constant: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.” Children climbing the steps of school buses last, unfortunately, only for a season. Wherever you are in your life journey, this part of the story will only last for a season. Some seasons in life seem exceedingly long, while other happy events seem to be transitory. But in the midst of change and the coming and going of literal seasons as well as the seasons of life, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Disappointment comes when we cling to the changing and forget that God is the One we must cling and hold on to through every season of life. Remember you are loved by the Father and your pastor. God Bless you. See you on Sunday. Joyfully, Pastor Ron Blake

In the Mail Dear Church Family,
Dear First Church Family,
What a wonderful “family” you are! Having never had surgery before, I never realized how much the prayers would mean! They took me through the 5-hour surgery and have given me a head start on healing. I appreciate you so much. Thank you, Voyager Class, for the delicious meals and the lovely bouquet of flowers. I’m anxious to get back and see you again.
Thank you so much for the many hours of prayer on my behalf. Once again, Jesus has been so good to me and my family. Before, during, and now after my surgery, I have felt the loving and strong arms of Jesus surround me! Also, thank you for the beautiful flowers and for thinking of me! They helped brighten up my day! I am thankful to Jesus for such a wonderful church family.
I’m praising the Lord, Dyonne Milbrandt
Thank you again! Tina Moore
Please continue to be in prayer for Maggie and the Aquaro family as they morn the loss of Maggie’s mother. Maggie writes: I know that you are praying because there is a great peace that has fallen upon this house. My dad’s grief comes and goes in waves but we are surviving, and celebrating my mom’s life and her influence on our lives. Thank you for being so very faithful! Love, Maggie

e are excited about the opening of our Café! We have worked hard and long with volunteers to build the Café. You have been asking great questions and we thought we would take some space to help you dream with us as we launch this new ministry. We are always available for questions and welcome all inquiries. 1) Q – What times will the Café be open on Sundays? A – The Café will be open from 8:45am until 9:10am and again at 10:15am until 10:55am. This will allow you time to get to Sunday School or service. 2) Q - What will the Café serve? A – We will be serving freshly ground and brewed regular, decaf and hazelnut flavored coffee. We will also be creating an assortment of specialty coffees such as lattes, mochas, frapachinos, hot chocolate and possibly smoothies. 3) Q – Will there be a charge for the new coffees? A – Yes, for the specialty coffees there will be a minimum donation to cover the costs. An example of the suggested donation is: $2 for lattes and $2.50 for flavored lattes. We also will have a punch card available for visitors, redeemable for 4 specialty coffees as a gift from our church. As for the freshly ground/brewed coffees we will have donation baskets available for anyone wishing to help with the costs of the coffee and sweets that we will serve every week. 4) Q - Can I take my coffee and donut to Sunday School? A – Yes, Please stop by and get a cup of coffee to take to your Sunday School class. We are asking that every cup have a lid to eliminate the spills and possibly burning you or others. We also ask that you finish your coffee and donut before entering the sanctuary. No food or drinks in the sanctuary please. 5) Q - What other uses will the Cafe have? A – We have built the Café with a fully equipped serving line including a steam table for our Wednesday night meals and all-church dinners. We hope to see the Café used by many ministries and have designed it with simplicity in mind. Some of the suggestions are: opening for the community to stop by for a latte on the way to work, a businessmen’s lunch with a speaker, a Friday night band in the Café for our teens to invite friends, men’s and ladies’ Bible study refreshments. The ministry opportunities are endless. We will make sure that ministries that want to use the café are trained and equipped prior to using the café. 6) Q - How can I help? A – First and foremost your prayers are needed as we stretch ministry to a new level. We believe the Café can and will be a place where connections will be made over a cup of coffee that otherwise would not happen. Our goal is to see people enfolded into the Kingdom. We also will need people to volunteer to serve. We will teach you everything; we just need your willingness! 7) Q - How has the Café been funded? A – All money spent on the Café construction, equipment and furniture has been donated specifically for the Café/Kitchen. No monies have been taken from church tithes. We have also had well over 800 hours of volunteer labor from church members. Without this donated labor the Café would not be a reality! If you would like to help us with this project we are still looking for volunteers in the final stages of construction and if you would like See insert for Wednesday night to support our newest ministry of fellowship financially, simply designate your donation to “Kitchen Fund” and we will make sure it goes to help with the ministry. Praise the Lord for His blessings as we continue to seek ways to reach out to friends and neighbors while ministering to you, our congregation. The Fellowship Committee, Pastor Blake, David White, Diane Witt-Kingsbury, Kendall Ruhberg, Hannah Riddell, Kristen Baker, Greg Stottele, Neil Murphy, Bridge Riddell, Laura Kingsbury, John and Debbie Stottele
