An easy way to incorporate relaxation into your lifestyle is by decorating your home with relaxing, Zen-like decor. Zen is a spiritual practice derived from Buddhism that originated in China during the Tang Dynasty. Zen can also describes a state of mind or even a peaceful place and is most often associated with Yoga and Meditation. Pairing Coastal colors with Zen inspired accessories is the perfect combination for creating a Zen Coastal Retreat right at home. Doesn’t that sound dreamy?! Start by adding natural elements that induce a “retreat” or “peaceful getaway” feel. Think large swaying plants, sounds of distant waves crashing or a trickling water feature, smells of tropical plants and tall bamboo reaching towards the ceiling- all create the perfect backdrop for an at home retreat experience. Immerse yourself in the senses and think about what you hear and smell when you take the time to close your eyes and relax in your space. This is also the perfect time to take the opportunity to observe your breath and observe your mind, two of the majors practices of Zen. Zen, Yoga and Meditation are popular worldwide because
This brings us to another important factor in such a decorating style- incorporating key elements that pay tribute to some of the ideals of Zen. Without these elements, others may not recognize that you are creating a “Zen” inspired beach retreat. Small figurines of an Elephant, Buddha, and even a tabletop Zen Garden are all small ways to add Zen appeal and also make your design inspiration very clear. Add throw pillows, candle holders, throw blankets and other accessories in vibrant coastal colors. Bring the relaxation of the ocean into your space with color. Make sure to find a few pillows in outdoor fabrics that you can have on the floor for overflow seating or most importantly, when you want to get your Zen mindset flowing. Hit the Yoga mat and let your stresses melt away as you dive deep into a Yoga practice, or relax and unwind with friends and family. An amazing way to create undeniable ambiance is to find several candle holders in differing heights and fill with a bit of sand and group together in 3’s. Once you have combined natural elements, hints of Zen Tradition, comfortable coastal colored seating, romantic and relaxing ambiance, you may find
yourself in a state of Nirvana with the blissful feelings you get from relaxing in this space daily. magine waking up to the sound of crashing waves and looking out your window to sweeping ocean and golf course views. This dream can be a reality at Quivira Los Cabos! Quivira is an 1,850-acre master-planned community on the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja peninsula, about 10 minutes north of downtown Cabo San Lucas.
