A UK-based manufacturer of small-bore liquid flowmeters, Titan Enterprises has built a robust global network of partners and distributors in Europe, the Americas, Australia, and East Asia. This strong international presence enables its flow measuring products to reach markets that might otherwise be restricted, easing import access and providing local support and technical expertise.
“The US and Canadian flow measurement market presents exciting opportunities, especially in key industries such as fluid power, oil and gas, chemicals, and food and beverage,” says Jeremy Thorne, Operations Manager for Titan Enterprises. “Market growth projections highlight the expanding adoption of flow meters in these sectors, underscoring their critical role in ensuring accurate flow measurement and control in industrial processes.”
When Basecamp Process Components (BPC Valves) approached Titan and showed strong interest in becoming a key distributor for the USA and Canada, discussions began. With a rich legacy itself as a leading provider of industrial valves, BPC not only understand the process and flow measurement industries, but their long-
established market also provides a clear synergy with Titan’s flow meters and flow measuring instruments.
“In 2023, the flowmeter market was valued at approximately USD 9.9 billion and is projected to reach around USD 17.1 billion by 2033,” states Kate Thomas, Titan’s Company and Finance Director. “In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, America contributed 16% of our gross sales, showcasing a solid base with tremendous potential for expansion.”
“With the global flow meter market experiencing significant growth, we are excited to partner with Titan as we enter 2025,” Scott Will, Owner of BPC, says. “Customers here in the USA and Canada will benefit from Titan’s industry proven products and the added distribution and support we can offer through BPC.”
Titan’s dependable flowmeter technologies play a vital role in the development of innovative products aimed at promoting sustainability, reducing waste, supporting alternative energy use, and driving both environmental and financial savings. The versatile range of Titan flowmeters offers advanced features such as chemical resistance, long lifespan, clean bore design, and precise low-flow measurement.
“North America also opens opportunities for us with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers,” says Neil Hannay, Senior Development Engineer with Titan Enterprises. Titan has the experience and engineering skills to develop and manufacture tailored flowmeter solutions, from research and test through to prototypes and full production. “Having BPC as an additional trusted and knowledgeable partner alongside JLC in the US will help to extend and deliver these projects more efficiently,” continues Neil.
Over the next few years, Titan will be seeking established international distributors in the Middle East/UAE and Southern African regions to develop a more coordinated approach to these markets.

When the company was founded in 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden, Bluewater set its sights on being the world’s most planet-friendly water purification and beverage company with the aim to innovate and market disruptive hydration solutions for home, work, and play.
Over a decade on, Bluewater is now reaping the rewards of its relentless innovation and dedication, earning global recognition as a leader in sustainable, high-performance hydration solutions. This success was

The Bluewater Café Station™ has been said to be redefining the bean-to-cup journey, and with Bluewater at the forefront of this transformation, this product has delivered a solution that respects tradition whilst embracing modern innovation.
“The Bluewater Café Station™ solution not only purifies water of all known contaminants but also optimally enhances it using our exclusive Liquid Rock® mineral dosing system,” says Maximillian Lundin, head of Bluewater’s Coffee Division and a former top Swedish chef with a passion for sustainability. “This ensures that every cup brewed achieves its fullest flavour potential, creating an unparalleled sensory experience for coffee lovers.”
The Bluewater professional coffee brewing station adds uniquely individualised blends of minerals to the water it purifies to coffee to bring out the best flavours of each bean
powerfully affirmed last year when its groundbreaking Bluewater Café Station™ was named a 2024 ‘Best Buy’ for speciality coffee shops by The Caterer magazine in the UK. The momentum continued as the product was proudly showcased at the World of Coffee Expo in Dubai from February 10-12 this year, where it received widespread acclaim and solidified its status as a game-changer in the industry.
Explicitly designed for coffee shops, the Bluewater Café Station™ offers advanced purification technology that removes PFAS, lead, and other impurities. It enhances taste by eliminating off-flavours caused by chlorine and other chemicals, while its sustainable, eco-friendly design helps reduce plastic waste. The system ensures consistent water quality, delivering the perfect cup of coffee every time.
At the heart of the Café Station’s innovation is its precision water calibration technology, which tailors the mineral composition of water to match the unique profile of each coffee bean. By fine-tuning water chemistry with the help of Bluewater, baristas can unlock and amplify the
Lundin adds, “Another major benefit of the Bluewater solution is that it significantly reduces scaling, which cuts down on the cleaning and servicing needs of costly brewing equipment while extending its lifespan – all benefiting coffee shop profitability.”
What’s more, to make a great year even greater, 2024 also saw Bluewater honoured with the coveted 2024 GOOD DESIGN® Award for its product: Kitchen Station. The 2024 GOOD DESIGN Award is a prestigious accolade from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. This recognition spotlights Bluewater’s innovative approach to sustainable living and healthy lifestyles, underscoring its dedication to ecofriendly solutions and pristine water quality.
The groundbreaking Bluewater Café Station™ has been crowned ‘Best New Product’ at the prestigious 2025 World of Coffee exhibition in Dubai
The Kitchen Station is not just a water purifier; it’s a game-changer. This compact solution transforms ordinary tap water into a crystalclear, health-enhancing user experience! Bengt Rittri stated, “By stripping away all known toxic chemicals and contaminants and infusing the water with liquified minerals harvested from billion-year-old Swedish mountains, the Kitchen Station is setting a new benchmark in water purification and beverage technology.”
Featuring the Bluewater Spirit under-sink purifier, the Kitchen Station delivers up to 900 litres of purified water on demand, addressing consumer concerns about tap water quality with efficiency and flair.
The system also features a unique mineral solution – dubbed ‘Liquid Rock’ by Bluewater – that is delivered via an IoT infuser system steered via a smartphone app, allowing users to precisely adjust or dose the mix of minerals

according to their taste preferences and wellbeing needs. Also integrated into the system is the Bluewater O, a user-friendly control enabling easy switching between municipal water (for doing the dishes) and the purified re-mineralised water. The O allows users to visually check water quality by shifting from an orange shade during the speedy water purification process to an all-blue colour when it is fit to drink.
Patrik Marusik, Bluewater’s Product Marketing chief, said he was thrilled at the GOOD DESIGN award. He commented, “The
Bluewater Kitchen Station is a testament to our passion for health-conscious and environmentally responsible living. Winning the GOOD DESIGN® Award in such a competitive global arena is a powerful acknowledgment of our pursuit of innovation and sustainability. It captures the essence of a company committed to enhancing everyday life through cuttingedge technology and thoughtful design.”
Already available to consumers in Sweden, the UK, and the Middle East, the Bluewater Kitchen Station will launch in the USA in early 2025. This expansion is a significant milestone for Bluewater, further cementing its role as a leader in the quest for a cleaner, greener hydration future. For modern consumers seeking to embrace a healthier lifestyle, the Kitchen Station offers a compelling blend of functionality and Scandinavian elegance.
From energy-efficient under-sink purifiers and advanced mineralizer solutions to high-performance public water dispensers, Bluewater’s product lineup delivers exceptional hydration solutions for every need – combining
uncompromising quality with a strong commitment to sustainability and planetfriendly innovation.
In closing, Bluewater founder and CEO Bengt Rittri, one of Scandinavia's leading ecopreneurs stated, “2024 was a year of transformative growth and innovation. From groundbreaking products to strategic partnerships and leadership appointments, we are poised to make an even greater impact in 2025 as we redefine sustainable hydration worldwide. With our mission firmly rooted in sustainability and innovation, Bluewater will continue to revolutionise water purification and beverage solutions for home, work, and play in 2025 and beyond.”

Packing speed and quality have been significantly improved for one food production company, regardless of the limited space in their production facility. A compact automatic l-sealer was supplied by Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) to achieve their goals.
Green Cuisine are specialist producers of herbs, spices and seasonings. Established in 1990, they supply several million packs per year to the UK and Europe. Their range of over 150 different products are supplied in jars, tins and boxes, plus specially shaped gift packaging.
Green Cuisine previously operated a semiautomatic packaging line. However, this line was becoming increasingly unreliable with poor quality seals and had always been timeconsuming to operate. They discussed their requirements for a faster and higher quality alternative with a number of packaging equipment suppliers, before opting for YPS’ proposal.
“YPS really listened to our specific needs and offered us equipment that was a
little different to the norm, so that it perfectly suited all our requirements,” commented Jules Pike, Director at Green Cuisine.
YPS supplied a Pratika Smart 55 compact l-sealer. “This machine offers the benefits of an automatic l-sealer, such as speed, precise sealing and fast changeovers, all with a much smaller footprint, ideal for the limited space available at Green Cuisine,” explained YPS Sales Manager, Jacques-Pierre Macchi.
The Pratika Smart 55 combines sealer and tunnel in one machine, resulting in a total line length that is at least 1.5 metres shorter than one made up of a sealer and separate tunnel.
The l-sealer provides a shelf-ready finish for a wide variety of products
Compact l-sealer delivers all the advantages of automation within a smaller footprint

“As well as YPS’ fresh approach to supplying the equipment, their back up and support convinced us that they were the right partner to work with. We’ve been very happy with the installation, commissioning and continued running of our new compact l-sealer,” concluded Jules.

In recent years, small sachet formats have received a lot of attention in the media for the environmental challenges that they present. These small plastic envelopes are widely used to dispense condiments, sauces, personal care creams and many other liquid products. While they are convenient for the consumers, they are often highlighted for the issues that they create at the end of their life.
Estimates* suggest that approximatively 855 billion sachets were used globally in 2018. Most of these packs are produced with complex multi-layered packaging that can withstand the nature of the ingredients and preserve the products during the supply chain for their required shelf life. They are usually produced from 3-layer structures including layers of polyolefin, aluminium and often polyester, making the packs extremely difficult to recycle as the components of the laminate structure are incompatible for recycling and not easily separated. Their very small size and the fact that they often remain contaminated by foodstuff, further add to the difficulties in recycling.
Compostable film producer Futamura, flexible packaging converter Repaq and machine producer GK Sondermaschinenbau have worked together to produce a compostable solution for this market segment. This has been
a difficult challenge to resolve, one that has been taken many attempts to perfect.
Today, they are delighted to launch a fully compostable solution based on NatureFlex™ technology for this application, capable of wrapping ingredients such as ketchup or mustard, cooking sauces or hand cream. The new compostable laminate includes a barrier cellulose film layer from Futamura as well as another biofilm to provide hermetic seals. The structures have been certified as compostable, both in an industrial and home settings.
The new compostable packaging structures have been proven to make effective sachet solutions, when produced on the newly designed GK Sondermaschinenbau machinery. The demonstration packs delivered have confirmed the required shelf life and protection for a range of sauces. The machineability of the new liquid sachet packs have been repeatedly proven, at scale, by the first brands implementing the compostable structure. There was no difference in efficiency when using this structure compared to a conventional one. That has been reported for all GKS machinery, whether small, medium or large size. The first commercial sachets will enter the market shortly.
Sven Seevers, Technology Manager at Repaq, confirmed, “It was very important for us to replace this non-recyclable packaging, which can pollute the environment, with a compostable solution. We succeeded after two years of development work with our great co-operation partners. Our packaging offers excellent product protection and significant ecological benefits at the same packing speeds. For liquids packaging we achieve an OTR of 0.5 at standard conditions of OTR: 23°C, 50% r.h with a shelf life of up to 12 months. In the long term, it is the best end-of-life scenario for this packaging and many others.”
Nico Merkel, Sales Director at GK Sondermaschinenbau, added, “We are very pleased that our machinery has been involved in this project and shown to contribute to the
production of these unusual and progressive packaging solutions. It has been a pleasure to produce samples in our facilities and participate in the extensive testing of these little packs, proving that they can withstand large pressure over long term. The tests on our machinery have certainly shown that almost no adjustments were required to use the solution supplied by Repaq.”
Joachim Janz, Regional Sales Manager at Futamura, stated, “This home compostable liquids sachet packaging is indeed a really exciting launch. Ultimately, it means a perfect match to the request for offering a full portfolio of demanding food and non-food items to be packed in compostable packaging choices. Small-portion sachets have always been the tricky ones for recycling, so this success in compostability is good news to be shared.”

The global campaign will launch through-the-line from May, unveiling a striking new visual world that captures the ultimate BOMBAY SAPPHIRE experience
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® unveils Step Into The Blue – a new global campaign, inspired by the signature hue of the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bottle, that invites people to immerse themselves in a beautiful, blue world and celebrates the brand’s role in bringing the beauty of the moment to life.
Launching globally from May 2025, Step Into The Blue will roll out through an integrated 360° marketing campaign across key markets including Western Europe, North America, and Australia – spanning advertising, social media, experiential activations, influencer partnerships, and brand collaborations. The paid media campaign will start to roll out from the 19 May across the UK and Italy, followed by France on the 26 May and North America on 1 June.
At the heart of Step Into the Blue is a striking new advertising campaign that captures the essence of the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE experience: a perfectly chilled BOMBAY SAPPHIRE & Tonic savoured against a backdrop of nature’s most splendid blues, whether that’s a rooftop overlooking the city or by a shimmering sea. The images evoke a rich, multisensory moment — the clink of ice, the burst of citrus aroma, and the vibrant, refreshing taste of every sip.
Step Into The Blue is rooted in a timely human insight: in today’s busy, complex world, where attention is fragmented, true immersion in a moment has never been more powerful. At a time when consumers are seeking lighter, brighter, and more elevated experiences (IWSR 2024 Report), BOMBAY SAPPHIRE offers a beautiful invitation to pause, engage, and actively lean into an
experience or moment.
The launch of the Step Into The Blue campaign marks just the beginning of an exciting chapter for BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, as the brand prepares to unveil a series of immersive, multi-sensory experiences designed to further cement its position as a global cultural tastemaker – including a new major global sports sponsorship deal set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
This new brand world has already begun to take shape through a series of curated activations, each inspired by, or taking place against, the striking backdrops of blue skies and sparkling seas. In February, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE partnered with artist Rebecca Black at The Miami Beach EDITION’s rooftop, showcasing the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Sparkling Lemon cocktail, and welcoming a new generation of gin drinkers. At the same time across Western Europe, a new collaboration with celebrated designer Thomas Heatherwick debuted through bespoke in-bar experiences at some of the continent’s most renowned venues, including SIPS and FOCO in Barcelona, Little Red Door in Paris and Le Lion in Hamburg.
Natasha Curtin, Global VP at BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, comments, “We all know how fast paced life can be – and how easy it is to slip into autopilot. Step Into The Blue is an invitation to reconnect with the beauty that surrounds us. At BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, we have always been about creating beautiful moments – whether it’s the vibrant taste of a BOMBAY SAPPHIRE & Tonic or the breathtaking glasshouses at our distillery home.
“But with this campaign, we wanted to be even more single-
minded: celebrating the luminous spirit of our brand by placing our iconic, shimmering blue bottle at the centre of it all. Through Step Into The Blue, we’re encouraging everyone to find their own moments of beauty each day – and to fully embrace them.”
Curtin continues, “Alongside our new advertising campaign, we’re excited to bring our beautiful blue world to life in 2025 through a series of immersive, multi-sensory experiences. With a major new global sports partnership, as well as exciting media and talent partnerships, also set to be revealed soon, we can’t wait to invite people
to Step Into The Blue in its most visceral and unforgettable form.”
Step Into The Blue will begin its global rollout from May 2025, beginning with the UK and Italy, and supported by a comprehensive media campaign spanning digital out-of-home, video, social media, influencer activations, PR, and a new pan-European media partnership. The campaign’s rich, sensory-led imagery has been captured by acclaimed photography duo Gentl & Hyers, with creative developed in collaboration with AMV BBDO. www.bombaysapphire.com
In a major milestone for the Food to Go sector, Tuk In Foods is proud to announce that it has secured a listing in 600 Tesco stores nationwide, becoming the first-ever branded product included in Tesco’s iconic core Meal Deal.
The listing features Tuk In’s award-winning Curry in a Naan range – a bold, innovative take on Indian street food designed for modern convenience. Products available in the Tesco Meal Deal include three bestselling flavours:
● Chicken Tikka
● Chicken Korma
● Chicken Jalfrezi
“It’s a huge honour to be the first Indian brand included in Tesco’s Meal Deal,” said Pauil Grigg, Tuk In Foods Sales Director. “This is not
just a big step for us – it’s a signal of how far British food culture has come, and how much demand there is for exciting global flavours on the go.”
This rollout follows a year of rapid growth and investment, including the development of a new, high-capacity production site in Leicester. That facility has enabled Tuk In to scale manufacturing while preserving the authenticity and quality that sets its products apart.
“Our Curry in a Naan range has won multiple awards for a reason – it delivers genuine Indian flavour in a totally new format,” added Grigg. “We’ve worked hard to reinvent what Food to Go can look like, and we’re thrilled that Tesco is bringing these flavours to their customers on such a large scale.”
According to North Star category data, Tuk In is now the fastest-growing brand in the UK
CANSUK is a brand-new start-up that is set to take the canned beverage industry by storm! Offering a simple, refreshing crisp alpine spring water drink made with real fruit juice and just the right amount of bubbles, CANS was a big hit at the recent Lunch! North 2025 event where it showcased its new products just 18 months after launch.
Showering shame on all its sugar alternatives, CANS, if you didn’t know, stands for Crusaders Against Nefarious Sugars, is now available in the UK. Since the product was first launched in 2023, CANS has officially sold over 1.6 million units, saving the equivalent of 33 tons of sugar or 8 million sugar cubes that would have been consumed if people drank other sweet soft drinks instead.
Proving that CANS is heading in the right direction, the company has continued its growth trajectory now distributing to Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, and now its latest expansion, the UK!
Food to Go sector, driven by strong consumer interest in premium, flavour-led convenience products. The listing aligns with Tesco’s ongoing strategy to modernise its Meal Deal range with more diverse and exciting options.
“This partnership is a testament to our brilliant team – from the kitchen to the production line to the sales floor,” said Managing Director, Thomas Cropper. “Being part of Tesco’s Meal Deal is a huge opportunity to bring Indian street food to the mainstream at scale.”

Ready and armed to tackle a challenging, yet hopefully rewarding UK market, CANS not so secret plan for world domination, is looking very likely with current offices set to open in Brighton and London.
Reflecting on its first year, co-founder and CEO, Dominic Rice, shared, “We are happy with our growth and reaching new consumers through expansion.”
“Our brand, product and mission has already been very well received by consumers in the Czech market, and I would say that we are where we hoped we would be after the first year. We have already launched sales in Slovakia and Germany, and now we are ready for the UK.”
“We chose this path because we wanted to start on the domestic market first and learn as much as possible from this process. The choice of other markets was ultimately simple: the largest ones. The reason is also simple: we are here to try to change the situation – to help reduce the excessive consumption of sugar and artificial sweeteners in society, which is causing major
health problems around the world. The fastest way to achieve this is to be available to consumers in the largest markets as quickly as possible.”
Made using just three simple ingredients: pure water from the Alps, natural juice from real fruit, and effervescent bubbles from wherever bubbles come from, CANS was founded by entrepreneurs Jaroslav Beck, Dominic Rice, and Jan Rambousek.
Soft on the mind, body and the planet, each can is 330ml and includes flavours such as Apple, Cherry, and Lemon. There is also a CANS sample box available that offers two units of each flavour.
CANS mission to reduce excessive sugar intake is gaining momentum, and this is only the beginning. If you’re ready to join CANS on their journey to shake things up, enquire below for more information.

Thegrocery, hospitality, specialist retail and manufacturing sectors came together for three days in April to make new friends, strike new deals and see and sample all that’s new in the world of food and drink.
From Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 April 2025, six packed halls at the NEC Birmingham became home to the UK Food & Drink Shows –the annual event that highlights and showcases this vibrant and innovative industry.
This year’s event comprised four individual shows, each dedicated to a trade sector: Farm Shop & Deli Show, National Convenience Show, Food & Drink Expo and Foodex Manufacturing Solutions.
Around 1,500 exhibitors, from the world’s biggest names in FMCG and manufacturing to start-ups taking their first steps, travelled from across the globe to present their products and services. And the aisles of the halls were packed with tens of thousands of buyers and trade
visitors, from small independent operators to the largest multiple retailers.
All four shows featured packed programmes of expert speakers, insightful panels and inspiring demonstrations on the topics and trends that are driving the industry. This year’s speakers included Just Eat managing director Claire Pointon, Morrisons’ wholesale and franchise director Paul Dobson, Booths managing director Nigel Murray and Waitrose retail director Tina Mitchell.
Competitions were again a big part of the UK Food & Drink Shows line-up, and Nottinghambased Delilah Fine Foods was named Retailer of the Year in the prestigious 2025 Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards.
Judging for the Britain’s Best Loaf and Britain’s Best Cake contests took place live at the event. The accolade of Britain’s Best Loaf 2025 was given to a lemon & Earl Grey brioche crafted by Kuma-San Bakehouse in Matlock, while a decadent chocolate layer cake made by Abba Cakes based in the Wirral was named Britain’s

Nestled in the historic market town of Melton Mowbray, Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe stands as a proud guardian of one of Britain’s most iconic culinary traditions. With over 170 years of baking heritage, this celebrated shop is far more than a local landmark – it’s the beating heart of pork pie perfection.
Originally opened in 1851 by John Dickinson, the shop’s legacy is most deeply connected to his grandmother, Mary Dickinson, who is widely credited with creating the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie we know and love today. Her pioneering method of hand-raising the pastry using a wooden dolly, combined with the addition of jelly to preserve the meat, formed the foundation of what would become a national treasure.
Pork Pie Shoppe continues to handcraft its pies with a passionate team of bakers dedicated to preserving authenticity while creating exciting, innovative takes on classic flavours. Every pie is made using only the finest locally sourced British pork and encased in rich, golden pastry that’s as crisp and flavourful as ever.
Today, that same expertise lives on. Ye Olde
Within the shop, visitors are treated to an extraordinary selection of handcrafted delights, with shelves stocked full of famous names including Dickinson & Morris, Mrs King’s, and Walker’s Pork Pies. From mini snack-sized portions to generously filled family-sized pies, there’s something for every appetite. Their newly opened seating area gives customers a chance to explore the full range of delicious flavours and hand-crafted pork pies in an inviting setting. The Tasting Room menu offers pork pies, quiche and a full sharing platter of deli meats, cheese and scotch eggs.
For trade buyers and food industry professionals seeking premium ingredients, The Cotswold Cardillo delivers a range of Mediterranean staples with a Cotswold touch. Dedicated to quality and provenance, the brand expertly combines the finest Italian ingredients with the rich agricultural excellence of the Cotswolds, catering to wholesalers and food manufacturers looking to elevate their product offerings.
The cold-pressed olive oil, made from Itrane olives grown in Minturno, boasts a bold, fruity aroma with subtle spice, while the artisan apple cider vinegar, derived from handpicked Rock Cotswold apples, remains raw
and unfiltered, preserving its depth of flavour and health benefits. These pantry essentials reflect the brand’s commitment to tradition and purity.
Beyond these fundamentals, The Cotswold Cardillo presents a range of biscotti and award-winning panettone, alongside a selection of pasta sauces, including the two-star Great Taste Awardwinning Puttanesca with Taggiasche Olives. The fresh range features Arancini, pasta bakes and tiramisu.
New in 2025 is the Cotswold Cardillo ready meals range including meatballs, cannelloni and beef lasagne, made from locally sourced Cotswold beef.
Clara and Matteo, the passionate duo behind The Cotswold Cardillo, are proud to honour their family’s recipes while embracing innovation and ensuring their range meets the evolving needs of today’s market.
As Clara shares, “Our venture, named Cardillo after the vibrant goldfinch, symbolises our dedication to culinary excellence. Each dish reflects our Italian roots, offering time-honoured recipes with a modern twist.”

As champions of local produce, the shop also features a carefully curated range of regional artisan goods – from craft beers and smallbatch gins to farmhouse cheeses, handmade chocolates, chutneys, honey, and even the famed Melton Hunt Cake. Every item reflects a commitment to supporting local suppliers and celebrating the rich food culture of Leicestershire.
Whether you’re a curious visitor, a devoted foodie, or simply craving a taste of British heritage, Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe is a mustvisit. Combining traditional craft, local pride, and culinary excellence under one historic roof, it remains a shining example of how food can tell a story – one perfectly wrapped in golden pastry.
For Food & Drink Matters readers, this is more than a pie – it’s a piece of history you can taste.

Sustainable food packaging has never been in higher demand, with food manufacturers, cafés, delis, butchers and street food vendors increasingly requesting, or being legally required to adopt, packaging which reflects the changed priorities of their customers, the market and society as a whole. The fact that using sustainable materials for their packaging not only attracts ecoconscious customers to their brand, thereby opening up new markets, but also often makes the product more visually appealing on the shelves, adds even more reasons to go down the sustainable route when it comes to choosing their packaging.
To meet this demand, father and son team Peter and Alex Prior have recently launched a new business, Auripack, which will supply their customers with a range of sustainable food packaging, including fibre-based butchers’ trays and oven-safe meal packaging, as well as a range of eco-friendly catering consumables, including cups, food containers, deli sheets,
cutlery and straws.
While Peter and Alex may be launching a new business, don’t mistake that for inexperience –between them they have worked in the sustainable packaging market for more than 25 years, and along the way have gathered a vast amount of industry knowledge, as well as a wide network of contacts and suppliers.
This ensures that Auripack can offer individual solutions, tailored to the specific requirements of their customers.
For an informal chat about how they can help solve your packaging problems, call Auripack on 01333 824333 or email: info@auripack.com

Professional kitchen extract ductwork cleaning is essential for both hygiene and fire safety, as highlighted by Gary Nicholls, MD of Swiftclean, a specialist in ductwork risk management.
In any kitchen, the cooking process produces fine airborne droplets of fat, oils, and grease, collectively known as FOGs. As this greaseladen air passes through the extract system, it cools, leaving behind deposits that accumulate into a greasy layer on the interior surfaces of the canopy and ductwork.
To align with the TR19® Grease specification established by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), the grease layer must not exceed an average thickness of 200 microns –approximately half the thickness of a standard business card. Compliance with TR19® Grease serves as a crucial fire safety measure, offering protection to staff, patrons, and residents in both your premises and neighbouring establishments.
In the unfortunate event of a fire, adherence to the TR19® Grease specification may be a crucial requirement for your building’s insurance policy to cover damages effectively. This compliance is increasingly expected by insurers to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to protect their interests and mitigate risks associated with grease accumulation in commercial kitchens.
these compliance requirements, it is highly advisable to engage a qualified member of the Vent Hygiene Register (VHR) for your specialised cleaning needs. VHR members are trained professionals who have demonstrated expertise in ventilation hygiene, and they can conduct thorough cleaning services that adhere to industry standards.
To verify that your establishment meets
Upon completion of their services, VHR members can issue post-cleaning certification, serving as tangible evidence that your establishment has met all relevant legal obligations. This certification not only helps safeguard your property but also provides valuable documentation in the event of an insurance claim, demonstrating your proactive approach to fire safety and compliance with best practices.
Moreover, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 mandates the appointment of a Responsible Person for your property, who is tasked with ensuring compliance with TR19® Grease as part of your fire safety protocols.
While your kitchen may be spotless, it is crucial not to overlook the cleanliness of the extract system, as it should be a priority in your maintenance efforts alongside TR19® Grease compliance.

The call to Hart Door Systems was straightforward – a company was having problems with two suppliers of industrial doors and a third party had recommended Hart Door Systems as the best option as the alternative deliverer of the industrial doors which would resolve the problem.
Carl Crossman, Hart’s Project Manager, said the call was very much the part of a typical week at the forefront of manufacture of industrial/commercial industrial doors. “Because of our longstanding reputation as a major supplier of a wide range of industrial doors and the range of options we have, Hart is well placed to problem solve and deliver the very high standard of industrial doors necessary.”
Mr Crossman confirmed an immediate site visit was carried out and an instant order for two Speedor Storms was placed. Both doors have now been installed and the performance of both will be monitored with a view to replacing other doors on the site. “The response was extremely positive. The Storms are a very high standard of automatic industrial door, an essential part of Hart’s family of Speedor options.”
Mr Crossman added, “Typically clients are attracted to the rapid roll Storm
because of its robustness and exceptional wind resistance together with its energysaving potential as well as controlling internal temperatures and reducing escaping noise and odours. It is an incomparable industrial door product in high demand because of its robustness and exceptional wind resistance together with its energy-saving potential and other very important features.”
This rapid roll door is robust, low maintenance and delivers exceptional wind resistance in exposed areas. While its high-speed opening and closing action improve efficiency, the energysaving potential of this rapid roll door is high, controlling internal temperatures, escaping dirt, odours and noise.
Special features include; moisturecontrolled electrics, mechanical components shielded from dust and dirt, and a unique guide system offering exceptional wind resistance up to class 5 as defined by DIN EN 12424.
The high-performance exterior roller storm door is designed for frequent use in high traffic situations and constructed to withstand harsh environments.

Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke industrial doors, has assisted Crown Lift Trucks in addressing multiple operational challenges with the installation of its cuttingedge high-speed Ramdoor.
Crown Lift Trucks, based in Warrington, faced several issues at its facility, including the need to segregate two adjoining units with different temperature requirements while allowing the movement of high-mast forklift trucks through a large opening.
To tackle these challenges, Union Industries produced a bespoke solution to accommodate the building configuration, ensuring the required opening height could be achieved without compromising functionality. Additionally, the limited space at high-level, between structural steel frames, posed a significant obstacle.
Since launching their UK operations in 1960, Crown Lift Trucks have become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of forklift and material handling equipment. Designing and manufacturing up to 85% of its forklift components, Crown provide their wide customer base with forklift rentals, servicing and maintenance, used equipment and a variety of support services.
The installation of the Ramdoor not only addressed the temperature control and safety concerns but
also enhanced operational efficiency. Union Industries designed the door to accommodate Crown Lift Trucks’ requirements while incorporating a pedestrian access door to segregate traffic flow, ensuring a safer working environment.
The Ramdoor features a dual height opening facility, allowing for optimal heat retention while accommodating different forklift sizes. Furthermore, the engineered seals and infills achieve a seamless finish, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
It has also been designed to achieve a Class 5 wind resistance rating, making it able to withstand strong winds and to remain operational even during severe weather conditions.
Achieving this rating is supported by a number of the Ramdoor’s features, including its thick Ramhide door curtain material, which is high frequency welded to give the strongest fabric joins available.
In addition, it features heavy-duty wind-brace and wind-bar systems for added strength, plus extra-deep side-guides, which all contribute to the Ramdoor’s ability to cope with high wind loads and pressures. Like other doors in the Union range, it also benefits from a ‘Crash Out’ facility, in case of vehicle
or personnel impact to the bottom beam, thus ensuring minimal downtime and repair costs.
Alan Hirst, Sales Director at Union Industries, said, “We are delighted to have assisted Crown Lift Trucks in overcoming their operational challenges with our high-speed Ramdoor. This project highlights our ability to provide innovative solutions tailored to our customers’ specific needs.”
Mark Eccleston, Branch Manager, at Crown Lift Trucks, said, “Union Industries’ Ramdoor has revolutionised our operational efficiency and safety standards. Their dedication to understanding our unique requirements and delivering a bespoke solution underscores their commitment to customer satisfaction. The Ramdoor not only enhances temperature control and traffic segregation but also contributes to our sustainability goals. We are grateful for their expertise and partnership in achieving our objectives.”
