Is there a fee to participate in Badger Athletics? There is NO fee to participate. However, there are some costs for some sports. (shoes, gloves, clubs, racquets, etc.)

What if I get cut from a team and I really wanted to go out for a sport? YOU CAN! Very few sports at Badger cut. Don’t let that deter you from trying. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” If you get cut from a sport you may be able to go out for another sport even if that sport has already started. Just go talk to the coach, the Athletic Secretary or Athletic Director. “There is no failure except in no longer trying. It is the courage to continue that counts.”

Do teams have tryouts? Some sports have tryouts. You must attend all of the tryout days. If you cannot attend all of the tryout days, contact the coach.

How do I get home from practice? Badger provides a late bus for athletes when school is in session (5:45 p.m.) Take your Badger student I.D. card to Badger’s front office to receive your late bus athletic sticker prior to each season.

Is there busing to and from games/competitions? Badger provides transportation to and from all athletic competitions. The bus returns the students to Badger. Students are required to travel to/from activities on the bus. In the event that you cannot travel back from an event on the bus an Alternate Transportation Form must be completed by the parent and given to the coach PRIOR to the event.

What is the Alternate Transportation Form? Form can be found online or in the Front/Athletic Offices. When choosing to take alternative transportation home:  Coach’s approval must be obtained.  No athlete can ride to or from an event with anyone but a coach (medical circumstances) or parent/legal guardian.  Students MAY NOT ride home with another student’s parents or drive home themselves.  Form must be filled out and returned to coach no later than 24 hours before the event.

Can I practice or play in a game/meet if I missed school?  If you are absent on a school day or part of a school day, you cannot practice or compete.  If you are absent on a school day or part of a school day before a non-school day you cannot practice or compete on that non-school

day. **Exceptions: Example: Funeral/College Visit/Ortho or Doctor appointment. See an administrator if you have questions.

Can I get a gym locker? If you are out for a sport and not taking a Phy. Ed. class ask your coach for a locker room lock. Locks from home are not permitted.

Does Badger High provide health or accident insurance? The Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union High School (Badger High School) district does not provide any type of health or accident insurance for injuries incurred by your child at school. Student Accident Insurance can be purchased through Student Assurance Services, Inc. Premiums/Coverage Options: Full Time. 24 Hour. NO Sports. Grades K-12. Full Time. 24 Hour. Grades 7-12. All Sports except football grades 9-12. School Time. NO Sports. Grades K-12. School Time. All Sports. Grades 7-12. Except Football. Grades 9-12. Football only. Grades 9-12 [Football Grades 7&8 are covered by either the $79.00 or $154.00 All Sports Coverage] Extended Dental. K-12

This plan will provide benefits for medical expenses incurred because of an accident. If you have other insurance, Student Accident Insurance benefits will be applied to your deductible or co-pay. If you have no other insurance this will become your primary accident plan. Enrollment envelopes are available in Badger’s Main and Athletic Offices. Direct all questions regarding coverage to Student Assurance Services at 1-800-328-2739.

Do I have to pay to go to Badger events? All Badger students are admitted FREE to Badger home events when they show their student I.D. at the gate. Does not include WIAA tournament contests.

Does my family have to pay to go to Badger events? YES. However a Sporting Events Pass can be purchased for home events (does not include WIAA contests). A single adult (out of high school) is $25.00. An immediate family pass is $45.00. Passes available in the Front/Athletic Offices and online.

How do I order a team or individual picture? Athletes will be given an order form from their coach which needs to be completed (include $$) and given to the photographer the day of pictures. Pictures can also be ordered and paid for online. Does Badger have an Athletic Trainer? An Athletic Trainer is provided at Badger High at no cost to you. Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The trainer is responsible for the well being of your child while they are participating in sports. They can perform evaluations and diagnosis of acute, sub-acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders along with emergency care, prevention, and rehabilitation of injuries. They are here to prevent injuries in athletics and help save you unnecessary trips to the doctor. If your son or daughter goes to the doctor for athletic injury/illness, it is much appreciated if they bring a release back to sports note from the doctor. The trainer is here as a resource for the community and also provide free injury evaluations at the Aurora Lake Geneva Physical Therapy Clinic. We also provide fee for service activities such as: running evaluations, throwing evaluations, and athletic training (speed and agility training and strength training).
