Group House Wedding A colaboration between Backstage & BYT our resident Youth Theatre After a month-long intensive devising process with award-winning theatre maker Aonghus Óg McAnally, the members have created three brand new bespoke short plays for the new normal. "Antagonistic Anonymous", "Leaving is Easier", and "Celine’s Big Day" offer a feast of bite-sized theatrical treats from Longford’s future stars.

Little Folk on Tour
Kyle is back with his engaging, entertaining, and energetic show Little Folk- On Tour. He leads your children on a musical adventure playing his catchy original tunes, pop songs and traditional children’s music. Here the kids don’t just listen to the music, they become a part of the show. We’re going to make big noise with percussive instruments, float with colourful scarves and get lost in a shower of bubbles. For your under 8s, your rock toddlers and little boppers in between. It’s good fun for the whole family. Little Folk- Jump. Shake. Sing.

Arán & Im
Arán & Im is a theatrical performance in which Manchán Magan bakes sourdough bread for 70 minutes while offering insights into the wonders of the Irish language – exploring potent words of landscape, terms of intuition and insight, and the many phrases that bring to life the mysterious glory of our natural world. The show is a celebration of language, land and local Irish food, with freshly-baked traditional sourdough bread for the audience to slice and spread with butter they churn themselves from Irish cream. (Knowledge of Irish is not required.)

The Spin EIMEAR REILLY
We are delighted to present this sharing of a work in progress by artist in residence, and Longford native Eimear Reilly Dysfunctional, chaotic & infuriating. Jo Jennings has always struggled to find a place she can feel at home in, veering from one crisis to the next. The Spin is an exploration into the life long impact that grief and loss can have on a family and examines what a person carries within them when the presence of another threatens to dominate their life. Featuring Raymond MacGabhann

Creative Writing with Elizabeth Reapy Join Elizabeth Reapy for an exciting creative workshop on discovering enjoyable ways to get started in fiction, developing characters, dialogue and scenes whilst exploring samples of short fiction that may stimulate interest. Elizabeth is an award-winning author of international acclaim who holds an MA in Creative Writing from Queen’s University and has been published nationally and internationally.

Directing Masterclass with Terence Davies & Pat Collins Still Voices Film Festival in partnership with Screen Skills Ireland are delighted to bring Terence Davies, one of the world's greatest living directors to the Backstage Theatre. Terence will sit down with Irish Director Pat Collins to discuss his filmography, directing style and techniques. This event is open to both professionals and non-professionals alike. Women In Theatre Lir Academy & Abbey Theatre The purpose of the roadshow is to engage female secondary pupils throughout Ireland by presenting & facilitating workshops geared towards increasing awareness of technical theatre, stage management & the importance that these departments play in the professional creation of a live performance. These workshops are designed and overseen by industry professionals who lead technical departments at The Lir Academy. The performance aspect of the workshop will be led by an Abbey Theatre drama facilitator with experience of working with young people.

Sharyn Ward Sharyn Ward is a proud traveller from Longford. The mother of two rose to fame in 2019 when her exceptional rendition of Black is the Colour earned her a place in Ireland’s Got Talent final where she sang One Starry Night – a song which “makes me proud to be a Traveller”, she says. Sharyns origional date in 2020 was cancelled in due to Covid, so we are delighted to finally welcome Sharyn to Backstage this December

Sibling assassins-for-hire, Mel and Lu, have just turned up at the location for their very last kill – a ramshackle bar that has most definitely seen better days. Into the bar they swagger, along with two guns, plenty of ammo and enough attitude to ensure that the overly inquisitive barkeep is not going to give them the runaround. But something feels 'off' about the set-up. And several rounds of their favourite cocktails later, in this darkly comic realm of the absurd, the sibling assassins are about to discover what that something is.
