The Shooting of More O’Ferrall by Pauline Flood
Directed by Vanessa Flood This is an adaptation of a local historical event leading up to a fatal shooting which took place at Lissard House, Edgeworthstown circa 1935. In a time when fenianism and unfair landlordism were rife and evictions, disease, starvation and extreme poverty were common place, the residents of Sanderson’s Estate took it upon themselves to stand up to, Gerald More O’ Ferrall, the social climbing landlord at the time who was obnoxious, self-righteous, intolerant and a womaniser to boot. A tenants Association was set up to protect their rights and they drafted in the help of the IRA, The Broy Harriers and others to take a stand against unfair landlordism.

Patrick Talbot Productions Presents
A play written by and starring Shane Casey (THE YOUNG OFFENDERS) Fresh from his acclaimed performance as Billy Murphy in the TV series The Young Offenders and the feature film of the same name which preceded it, Shane Casey returns to the stage in the 2019 national tour of WET PAINT. Tony has a fresh tan from the Canaries; Pa is wondering how Liverpool will get on in the Champion’s League and Barry’s got a secret. Sound familiar? Inspired by his time as a painter decorator himself, Shane Casey’s very funny play depicts a day-in-thelife of two painter/decorators and their boss during the Celtic Tiger era, when anything was possible-at least inside your head. Richard Nelson If you turn on an Irish radio station and hear a pedal steel guitar, chances are that the man in the driving seat is Richard Nelson. The list of musicians he has performed with reads like a who’s who of top Irish musicians, from Van Morrison, Daniel O’Donnell, Mick Flavin, Mary Duff, Philomena Begley, Brendan Quinn and countless others. He has played on over 200 albums over the years. He is one of the most sought after session musicians on the island. To most people the pedal steel guitar is a bizarre, bewildering instrument and the sheer technical prowess required puts most musicians off ever attempting to play it. But to play jazz on the instrument is a testament to the man himself. Richard will be joined by stunning vocalist Stella Bass, Hugh Buckley on Guitar, John P Murray on drums and Michael Mc Ginty on bass.

An Irish National Opera / Theatre Lovett /Abbey Theatre co-production.
Humperdinck Hansel and Gretel One of the greatest operas about children. Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel is full of music that is sweet and beguiling, and it combines childlike simplicity with heart aching beauty. He wanted a plot that ‘was not made up of murders, brutal deaths, operetta-like nonsense, or sugar-sweet fairy tales’. Do not be fooled. This is a story of greed and starvation, mouth-wateringly sugar-coated. Trouble at home. Two hungry children lost in a haunted forest. The lure of a gingerbread house. The frightening hocus pocus of the predatory Witch. And the smarts of the children who triumph in the end. All wrapped up in the delicious sound world of Engelbert Humperdinck’s operatic masterpiece.
