I am more of a hippie than you might expect. I eat organic and prefer local farms, I recycle everything (although I think my husband secretly puts some things in the garbage.) I feel very in tune with nature, animals and all living things. I actually have a hard time killing an insect. I love meditation although I hardly have time. I was curious one day and I took a Buzz Feed test and the results informed me, “You’re the equivalent of a modern-day hippie. You proudly show your passion for peace, love, and happiness. Your children will eventually grow up and have the absolute best taste in music.” OK, I will accept that, although not sure how much of a hippie I am relying on an Internet tests to define me, lol. I don’t want you to worry, this is the only place in this issue of BSP you will read about Earth Day (I can hear the sighs of relief as I write this.) You can’t expect a little thing like Earth Day to compete with Cinco de Mayo or Easter. So I guess it’s up to “semi-hippie me” to keep it alive. Where did this Earth Day Come From? It was created to garner national attention to environmental issues. (Not so crazy

when you consider we will also be celebrating National Karaoke Month in April.) According to the Farmer’s Almanac, “In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration. McConnell chose the spring equinox (March 21, 1970) and Nelson chose April 22. “ While both dates are still celebrated, we consider Earth Day each year on April 22. It is a Saturday this year and I know I will be planting to honor that day. But if you are a newbie but want to celebrate as well (and planting a tree is just to cliché,) “enjoy the tonic of fresh air, contact with the soil, and companionship with nature! Walk through the woods in search of emerging wildflowers and green moss. Go outside, no matter what the weather!” This sounds like good advice to me. Happy Spring!

When was the last time you relaxed and read an album cover inside and out while listening to your favorite artists. What was once old is new again! We have the great classics but we also carry today’s artists on vinyl too. That’s right! Check out artists like Adele and The Black Keys.
