THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO AT OCEAN WALK SHOPPES! At the heart of the world’s most famous beach is an open-air entertainment/shopping destination. Filled with eateries, gift stores, boutiques and a 10 screen movie theater, visitors and local residents call it their one stop destination. Located at 250 North Atlantic Avenue, the colorful, beachfront landmark has recently been freshly painted, security has taken exceptional measures and all the lighting has been upgraded. The next phase is new floors. This pride of Daytona Beachside is the Ocean Walk Shoppes. The Investment company out of Canada with properties in successful communities such as Ft. Lauderdale and more, have made a commitment to their vendors, patrons and our community to help make the Ocean Walk Shoppes great again. And with a 90 percent occupancy rate, it looks like they are succeeding. In the heart of our special events season, just before our highly successful Bandshell concerts series
(Friday and Saturday nights starting in May,) and only a couple months before our summer visitors arrive to enjoy the fireworks, it looks like this will be a year to remember for everyone. A look at the newest tenants Surfdogs, with just their grand-opening under their belt, garners excitement with the thought of authentic Vienna Chicago Dogs and authentic Vienna Italian Beef sandwiches. Straight from Chicago, this is no phony bologna, it’s the real deal. Vienna’s been making Hot Dogs and Italian Beef for over 123 years, and I think that makes them an expert on lunch. While they are currently open for lunch and dinner, they are hoping to open for breakfast soon. Bobiona’s, another new tenant, is actually back to the Ocean Walk Shoppes a second time and thrilled to be back. In business for 25 years, what better place to be then right on the beach? Selling keepsake souvenirs, the shop, located on the second floor next door to Surfdogs, is a place to bring your favorite vacation picture, or any picture really, and personalize a wonderful gift or keepsake with over 40 to choose from such as: Smartphone covers, clocks, even flip flops. Not just for tourists, think Mother’s Day... Most of us locals are well aware of Mai Tai’s and their awesome appetizers, cafe seating, live music and fresh flower garnished cocktails. Not to mention a pretty amazing happy hour. Bubba Gump is literally like stepping into the classic movie (and one of my personal favorites). Sloppy Joe’s is a Key West tradition and where else can you get a 64 ounce fishbowl cocktail? Ker’s WingHouse, while it may not face the water there is no lack of a view (if you get our drift) and amazing wings. Who doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night craving a Chocolate Banana Shake and beautiful cheeseburger? That’s what Johnny Rockets is for! These guys have an online rating

of 4.5 out of 5 stars, pretty impressive. And what would be the end of “a day at the beach” without a dripping, creamy, delicious cone from Cold Stone Creamery. Guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth no matter what your age. When it comes to shopping, the sunglass hut (all lower case on purpose,) fills a need that everyone in Florida has by offering top notch selections from known designers for men, women and the kids. BGIE, it really is the BEST GIFT IDEA EVER. Visitors can pick out gifts of art, jewelry, magnets or they can create their own and have it framed. And Point Break resort wear is the icing on the cake going home with a new Florida wardrobe screams, “I was in Florida and you weren’t.” If you are lucky while visiting Daytona Beach it might rain, then you can hop on the escalator at Ocean Walk Shoppes and ride to the amazing Paragon Theater and catch Boss Baby while munching on a pizza from my pi, that you creat-
