As enkeling of jonggetroude gaan jy gewoonlik waar jou hart of werkgeleenthed jou lei. Dis besluittyd.

dorp se skinderstories: As daar ’n geskiedenis van geweld, drankmisbruik of kindermolestasie in ’n huisgesin is, sál jy daarvan hoor.

Jou kinders gaan nie gou vasgedruk voel nie.

Kinders en troeteldiere “No matter how close we are to another person, few human relationships are as free from strife, disagreement, and frustration as is the relationship you have with a good dog.” quote Dean Koortz.

FEAR the Number 1 Sign of the End Times! TruLight Teaching Article We read of the Signs of the End Times from the Bible, Jesus Himself gave us several signs to look for, to see that the End Time is near. As He informed His Disciples in the New Testament Books of Luke 21 and Matt 24, Jesus showed several people more end time signs like Paul and John that wrote the End Time Book of Revelations. But the Number 1 Sign of the Times is one I see daily within Christians! Yesterday I received the Tragic news of an Ex colleague at work that passed away and the reason on his death on his death certificate was, heart failure. The Holy Spirit spoke to me right away and instructed me to place this Article.”Heart failure is caused by fear” I actually prayed and counselled this ex worker friend of mine in 2015, and the main reason for his counselling request was fear. The Number one killer of the end times we are living in right now is FEAR! Jesus said. Luke 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. What is Fear? Although the definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. Synonyms: terror, fright, fearfulness, horror, alarm, panic, agitation, trepidation, dread, consternation, dismay, distress; be afraid of (someone or something) as likely to be dangerous, painful, or harmful. “I hated him but didn’t fear him anymore” synonyms: be afraid of, be fearful of, be scared of, be apprehensive of, dread, live in fear of, go in terror of, be terrified of, be terrif ied by, cower before, tremble before, cringe from, shrink from, flinch from. Fear is the opposite of faith, fear is the opposite of hope and fear is the opposite of losing love. Fear steps in when you loose faith Faith vs. fear – what does the Bible say? Faith and fear cannot exist together. Faith is described in Hebrews 11:1 as being certain of what we do not see. It is an absolute belief that God is constantly working behind the scenes in every area of our lives, even when there is no tangible evidence to support that fact. On the other hand, fear, simply stated, is unbelief or weak belief. As unbelief gains the upper hand in our thoughts, fear takes hold of our emotions. Our deliverance from fear and worry is based on faith, which is the very opposite of unbelief. We need to understand that faith is not something that we can produce in ourselves. Faith is a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) and is described as a fruit (or characteristic) which is produced in our lives by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). The Christian’s faith is a conf ident assurance in a God who loves us, who knows our thoughts and cares about our deepest needs. That faith continues to grow as we study the Bible and learn the attributes of His amazing character. The more we learn about God, the more we can see Him working in our lives and the stronger our faith grows. A growing faith is what we desire to have and what God desires to produce in us. But

how, in day-to-day life, can we develop a faith that conquers our fears? The Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). The careful study of God’s Word is of primary importance in developing a strong faith. God wants us to know Him and completely rely on His direction in our lives. It’s through the hearing, reading and meditation in the Scriptures that we begin to experience a strong, confident faith that excludes worry and fear. Spending time in prayer and quiet worship develops a relationship with our heavenly Father that sees us through even the darkest of nights. In the Psalms we see a picture of David, who, like us, experienced times of fear. Psalm 56:3 reveals his faith with these words: “When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” Psalm 119 is f illed with verses expressing the way in which David treasured God’s Word: “I seek you with all my heart” (v. 10); “I meditate on your precepts” (v. 15); “I have hidden your word in my heart” (v. 11). These are revealing words which speak wisdom to us today. God is kind and understanding toward our weaknesses, but He requires us to go forward in faith, and the Bible is clear that faith does not mature and strengthen without trials. Adversity is God’s most effective tool to develop a strong faith. That pattern is evident in Scripture. God takes each one of us through fearful situations, and as we learn to obey God’s Word and allow it to saturate our thoughts, we f ind each trial becomes a stepping stone to a stronger and deeper faith. It gives us that ability to say, “He sustained me in the past, He’ll carry me through today and He’ll uphold me in the future!” God worked this way in David’s life. When David volunteered to fight against Goliath, he said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:37). David knew the God who had sustained him through dangerous situations in the past. He had seen and experienced God’s power and protection in his life, and this developed within him a fearless faith. The Word of God is rich with promises for us to take hold of and claim for ourselves. When we face financial trouble, Philippians 4:19 tell us, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” If we are anxious about a future decision, Psalm 32:8 reminds us that God will “instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” In sickness we can remember that Romans 5:3 says, “Tribulation works patience.” If someone turns against us, we can be comforted by the words in Romans 8:31, “If God is for us who can be against us!” Throughout life we will continue to face various trials that would cause us fear, but God assures us that we can know a calm peace through every situation, “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding” which He has promised will “guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

In diere oorheers instink verstand.

‘n 72 Jarige bejaarde man is in sy woning dood geskiet tydens ‘n inbraak.

Paper industry encourages people to continue recycling amid challenging times More than 12 million tons of paper and paper packaging have been recovered for recycling in South Africa over the past decade. This, according to RecyclePaperZA, the country’s paper recycling association, has ensured that waste paper is diverted from landfill and recycled into new products, tissue products, newsprint and paper packaging for the agricultural, manufacturing and retail sectors. In 2018, South Africa collected 71.7% of recoverable paper and packaging, amounting to 1,285 million tons. “South Africa is in the enviable position of being able to use up to 90% of its recovered waste paper locally by recycling it into new paper, packaging and tissue,” says Anele Sololo, general manager of RecyclePaperZA. The balance of waste paper is exported. A diff icult time for paper industry, but don’t stop recycling Currently, the global paper recycling industry is faced with over-supply. “This means there is more waste paper available than there is use for it,” says Sololo. There are various economic factors at play, not least of which is China’s stricter requirement for cleaner waste imports since 2017. This means that around 30 million tons of waste paper from around the world needs to find a new home and use. In South Africa, the severe drought in fruitgrowing regions has had a knock-on effect for the paper packaging sector. “Corrugators produce less boxes for fruit with the result being that mills produce less paper which affects waste paper consumption rates,” explains Sololo. It is important to understand that collectors are paid for the recyclables they collect, and the higher the value of that

recyclable, the more likely they are to collect it. The lower demand in the market will effect a price drop as mills need to ensure they remain commercially viable, and unfortunately this affects recycling collectors and traders. The South African paper industry is however investing in research and development of alternative uses for recycled paper to ensure that recyclable paper and paperboard continues to be diverted from landfill and help improve demand for recycled paper f ibre. Different recycled paper products need different ingredients On the home front, some citizens may be a little confused about why some types of paper, such as newspapers, are not wanted by collectors. Just as chocolate cakes may differ slightly in terms of their ingredients, so too does paper. Printing paper, tissue, cardboard boxes, paper bags and sacks all require different types and quantities of raw materials. “The difference in paper recipes may even be customer-specific which makes papermaking an exact science,” says Sololo. Historically newspapers were required as a raw material for newsprint manufacturing. The declining newspaper consumption, largely due to online media, has resulted in the closure of newsprint machines in South Africa, leaving only one operational newsprint machine. “In 2011, South Africa produced 316,725 tons of newsprint,” says Sololo, adding that in 2018, the annual newsprint production was less than half the 2011 figure at 113,912 tons. This in turn has reduced the demand for used newspapers by paper mills. Newspapers are still used in the manufacture of moulded fibre products such as egg cartons, takeaway cup holders and fruit

trays. “This is where brand owners and retailers can help make a difference, by moving from plastic to paper for their packaging,” notes Sololo. A classic example are polystyrene vegetable and fruit trays, these can be made effectively from paper pulp. Some grades of paper are in higher demand than others. As an example, there is more use for white paper as it require less deinking and cleaning than newspapers and magazines. White paper also contains better quality f ibres for “paper recipes”. What are the various types of paper recycled into? White office paper is made from certif ied, sustainably produced virgin wood f ibre, especially if it is made in South Africa. White paper, which contains good quality fibre, is recycled into tissue products and is also added to the other paper recipes. Brown cardboard boxes are repulped into new cardboard boxes and brown kraft paper which in turn can also will be converted into sacks and bags. Liquid packaging board (beverage cartons and paper cups) comprises long, strong virgin fibre, also from sustainably managed forests, which is a great ingredient for paper products that require strength. The plastic and foil layers in liquid packaging board are separated from the paper in the recycling process and can be used in a range of applications such as plastic garden furniture. Common or mixed paper and cardboard packaging (cereal and dry food cartons, coloured paper, magazines, toilet roll cores) are classifed by the industry as “common mixed waste”. These go into recipes for various paper products even tissue – if the mill has a deinking plant. What should we do with “old news”?

Fortunately newspaper is very versatile and can be used for many things. Here are our top five, you can find a more comprehensive list on www.recyclepaper.co.za. Animal shelters – donate your old newspapers to animal shelters who will use them to line the kennels and catteries. Compost and worm farms – earthworms love a tasty snack of newspaper. Add dampened, shredded newspaper to your compost heap or worm farm. Fruit and vegetable drawer liners – place sheets of newspaper at the bottom of the fruit and vegetable drawer in your fridge. They will absorb any mess from rotten produce, and will also keep the drawer free from odours. Gift wrap – use newspaper to wrap gifts and decorate with some string and sprig of rosemary or lavender. Table padding lay newspaper under-neath a table cloth. It’s an excellent replacement for expensive padding, and will help protect your table from spills and other damage. Where should I take my paper recycling. Visit www.recyclepaper.co.za - Check out our “Where to recycle” page for some useful links. Support your neighborhood recycling collectors – find out what they collect and put this in a separate bag for them. Support a school or community centre under the Mpact Recycling paper bank programme. Look for your nearest paper bank here. Support recycling collection businesses which offer a paid service. Do a web search for “recycling collection services” for your area. Explore your local shopping centre and find out if they have a recycling zone. So keep up with those recycling efforts! And keep your paper clean and dry, and separate from other waste.

Make this a good day to be South African The year is 2020, it is a new decade, a new year and still, South Africa remains in the grips of an economic crisis. A crisis of ethics in our government. A Parliament in crisis based on ideology trumping a culture of pragmatism and a crisis in safety as we as South Africans live in constant fear for our lives. Today Mr President, is not a good day to be South African. Readers lived in hope that f irm and decisive actions steps would be announced to relieve them from the continued crisis that we as South Africans face on a daily basis. Hopes were shot down in a dramatic display of the inability of the governing parties to put the needs of South Africa above the internal wrangling and division

of a political party. Parliament do not have the ability to argue a debate and bully their way into significance. It is not a good day to be South African. The irony is that the different parties sees each other as enemies. Members of parliament are so resolute in the power that they yield within one party, they do not think twice about making outrageous statements on the steps of court, or join fellow members appearing on corruption charges to show their support. What we need to realise is that this is not only a show for the benefit of the President, this is a blatant slap in the face of every South African who believes in justice and the rule of law. South Africans are so used to be slapped in the face, that as a nation, they have

become completely punch drunk. If it wasn’t for our humour and our dogged determination to succeed, we would be in complete dire straits. As South Africans we should feel like government is playing us, but lets be honest, what else can we think. We now depend on apps on our phones to tell us when the electricity will be on, and how can we forget when in December of 2019, the country had to hold its collective breath as we entered the unchartered territory of stage 6 black outs. You read tweet after tweet, facebook post after facebook post, as South Africans used humour to lift their spirits. Note how many postings of the lyrics to the song “The Sound of Silence” is posted. The song starts with the line “hello

darkness my old friend”. And so of course, it was apt, and we all giggled, but the song goes on: “And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share and no one dared disturb the sound of silence” It is not a good day to be South African. But in fact it can be a very good day to be a South African, and in the face of all the crisis we see. This is our country, our home, our heart and pride. We believe in South Africa, we believe in our future and we believe that our South African flame will guide us through this very dark period of our history.

What must I do ... I’ve been hacked By John Mc Loughlin

With all the hype around cyber-attacks and every single cyber security enterprise talking about cyber resilience to improve a business’ security posture, nobody really knows what to do once they’ve been hacked. These terms are being used extensively and yet it still does not really help the consumer understand the importance or exactly what it means and what they can do to lower their risk. Often the focus on corporate risks and acceptable use policies is lost on the end user. Constantly referring only to the policy will not influence staff to adjust behaviour. In order to make real change, one needs to focus more on procedures, steps and the personal impact of better cyber hygiene to help employees be more secure. More importantly, when employees know what to do and what to look out for, they will be better protected at home and automatically by association more secure at work. Companies need to address the pressing aspects of cyber security and try to cover these issues in a way that will make sense to the non-technical user. It is amazing how making small adjustments can positively influence the behaviour of staff and

improve security at the same time. When the employee makes the changes themselves, positive results follow. Passwords passwords passwords Before anybody says that passwords are not the best form of security, or they are outdated and the like, the truth is that we live in an interconnected world and every single system we interact with needs a password. Every system, cloud storage, app and network that we place our information and login credentials into, increases our risk landscape. When you use a single password for every platform, a breach of one is a breach of them all. You may practice safe cyber activity and still have your credentials compromised in a third-party app that has poor security measures. Password policy A password policy is not only something that you should have in the office. It is a good idea to come up with, follow and assess compliance to a policy for your personal passwords as well. This policy, at work or home, must be practical for your situation. Have a look at the systems and platforms that you work with and follow the policy to ensure password security. If you make use of a password manager,

e -Tolls to stay The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng expects the Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, to announce during his budget speech that e-Tolls are here to stay. Minister Mboweni indicated in previous budget speeches that he supports the userpay principle when it comes to e-Tolls. It is unlikely to be any different during this week’s budget speech. This will come as a blow to Premier David Makhura who will be delivering his State of the Province speech this week. It is unlikely that he will contradict Mboweni and will in all probability be silent on e-tolls during his speech. This is a difficult position for Makhura as he made an election promise that e-tolls will be scrapped.

However, he may not have anticipated the drain that failing state-owned enterprises have placed on the fiscus as well as the pending NHI, pushing the scrapping of eTolls to the back of the queue. The DA calls on Premier Makhura to honour his election promise or be honest with the people of Gauteng about the real state of play regarding e-Tolls during his speech. He can no longer string the people of Gauteng along kicking the announcement to a future date like he has done the past year. Motorist’s were anxious about the so called scrapping of e-Tolls but apparently they will be very disappointed when the statement “e-Tolls will stay” be announced.

ensure that it is secure and use it correctly. How often will you change your passwords and will you only do this when something is compromised - monthly or quarterly? Whatever the decision, this is your policy and make sure you follow it. How will you monitor for compliance and breaches? Please ensure that you keep your eyes open for breach notifications, update managers and regularly check for multiple online sessions or logins on all your platforms. Also, register for a breach notification service on your personal email accounts. Contract a service to monitor and search for stolen, compromised and leaked credentials online and on the cyber underground. Breaches happen every single day and knowing that credentials

have been part of a breach allows you to take the required steps to stay secure. Implement multi-factor authentication on every platform possible. The reality is that the extra 2 or 3 seconds it takes to punch in the code or verify the login is far simpler than trying to recover data, chase lost money or explain how your credentials were used to drop ransomware on those around you. Make sure your passwords are unique to you. With the growing number of platforms and passwords, take the steps necessary to secure yourself and always follow your policy. If you need any guidance or professional advice, contact J2 Software to discuss real and practical methods to remain cyber secure.
