“A shopping spree to fight the big C” is op 26 Oktober 2013 aangebied. Elke winkel by wie aankope gedoen is, het

What is in your pocket? When I was a kid I always wanted to go to Max Sports (Vereeniging) because Uncle Max always used to have sweets in his pocket and when we greeted him he would “pull a sweet out from behind our ear”. What a joy, what fun (to be 6 years old again…..). I just wonder what we, in today’s lives, have in our pocket. All too often there are

the problems. The “mood swings” created by these unwanted items in our pockets create havoc with our life, life style and relationships. Maybe we all need to take some time and empty our pockets, one item at a time, and make right with the people and make a plan to remove unwanted items (life affairs) from our lives. If you need to see someone to help you with this process then do it – but just empty those pockets. Another thought is that if our pockets are full of these “bad” things then we will find that there is no or very little room for the “good” things. God has given each and

But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. Matthew 13:23a (NIV) H2411 LEADERS IN CUSTOM MADE SHOPFRONTS e-mail: 58 Second Avenue, Nigel 1490 Tel: 011 814-1577/26 Fax: 011 814 8467

people walking around with guns, drugs, knives and all sorts of “ugly” things in their pockets. These are realistic truths that we cannot get away from. But here is another thought: How many of us are walking around with hatred, anger, blaspheme, swearing, affairs and malice in our pockets? How many of us walk around “depressed” because we carry all these unwanted and not helpful things in our pockets. Every time we meet someone or chat to people we feel sad and guilty and we blame the world and everything around us but in fact it is our choices that create

12 November 2013 every one of us gifts that He wants us to use to glorify Him. These gifts are to be used in our homes, church, work and social lives. These gifts are enriching not only to us as people but also to those who we love and the people we come into contact with. The sad truth is that all of us have these gifts and many of us are allowing the gifts to “rot” in our pockets because we do not use them and often cannot even feel or experience them because of all the other stuff we have cluttering our pockets. My final thought for today is this: the “bad” or “negative” things in our pockets always pull us down and make our lives a misery. The “good” or “positive” things in our pockets will always lift or spirits up and we will be more positive in our outlook and life as a whole. Think of this: God designed you for a purpose and equipped you with certain gifts to do the work and to live life. If that is your design then it is these things that will make you the happiest – yet we choose to ignore them – and we wonder why the world is becoming so “depressed”. Search your “pockets” and look for the gifts that God has given you and then use then to His glory and enjoy life.

Consumers need to spend wisely over the Festive Season when we are inundated by marketing and tempted by material goods we desire rather than need. People in all income brackets give in to debt just to make merry during the festive season. The steep rise in the cost of living has left little to save in 2013 and this will continue in 2014. The Consumer Financial Vulnerability Index indicates that the pressure on consumers’ cash flow remains high. Yet, the celebrations continue and many pay for annual holiday expenses out of long term savings, annual bonuses or increased credit card debt. Gifts are bought on store-cards or through the many credit options available. Responsible spending over the season– without incurring debt – is a far healthier option for households’ long-term financial wellbeing. Over 58% of adults admit not to have enough money to save after covering all

In credit-hungry South Africa, where household debt is at 75.4% of disposable income while the household savings level remains at a mere 1.7% of GDP. The South African Savings Institute (SASI) is reminding consumers to spend wisely and set aside a portion of their end of year earnings to meet both new year requirements and future household f inancial demands. South Africans spend more than they earn throughout the year. This is compounded

Fight to win Judges 3:1 -4: These are the nations that the Lord left in the land to test those Israelites who had not experienced the wars of Canaan. He did this to teach warfare to generations of Israelites who had no experience in battle. These people were left to test the Israelites—to see whether they would obey the commands the Lord had given to their ancestors through Moses. (NLT) By default, human nature desires what is comfortable, easy and convenient. God on the other hand wants us to grow and develop in character, skill and purpose. Since there is an ongoing battle between the Kingdom of light and that of darkness, it is crucial for us to learn how to fight so that we can win the fight. God never loses and His desire is never for His children to lose. Just like with the Israelites in Judges 3:1-4, we sometimes face the enemy head on. When this happens, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, scared and tempted to ask why God does not just take the challenges and obstacles away for us. The skill to fight in such a way that victory can be won, is acquired in combat. It is in the middle of the fight, that we are developed and tested to grow into capable conquerors that can push back darkness God’s way without wavering. Since our battle is not against flesh and blood, we cannot overcome the enemy through our normal, fleshly responses. Spiritual battles need to be waged through spiritual weapons. When we try to achieve spiritual victory through our own strength it exhausts us and leaves us discouraged, hurt and helpless. In our human capacity, we have no ability to fight and overcome the devil. God did not call us to fight the devil – Jesus, the Prince of peace, fought and overcame the Prince of darkness. As God’s children, we are called to simply establish the victory that has already been won (Rev. 12:7). The enemy is defeated

through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (Rev. 12:11). Because Jesus overcame, we can overcome. Without the blood, there is no victory. Under the covering of the blood of Jesus the following is established: We are redeemed (Ephesians 1:7): Because of the blood, we are no longer slaves to sin. Jesus bought us back and set us free from the bondage and rulership of sin in our lives. Our sin is forgiven (1 John 1:9): Satan, the accuser of God’s children, accuses us all the time. Through the blood, all our sins are forgiven and we can stand before God guilt-free. We are cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9): Not only are we forgiven, but also the stain of sin is removed from our lives. Since we are in such desperate need of forgiveness and cleansing, we need to also live lives of forgiveness towards others. We are justified by the blood (Romans 5:8-9): Unlike people, God does not identify and label us by our failures. The blood justifies us as if we never sinned. In our acceptance of Jesus, He takes all our sin upon Himself and gives us the holiness He carries inside himself. In order for us to walk in this justification, we simply need to accept the gift. We are sanctified (Hebrews 13:12): The blood of Jesus makes us holy. It keeps us safe and protected and sets us apart for the purposes of God. As long as we are covered by the blood of the Lamb, the enemy has no hold or ability in our lives. We can effectively overcome him simply through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. This week determine to not give up, back down or question when under attack. Fight back! Fight God’s way with God’s weapons. Fight to win!

Vroulike bestuurders betaal heel dikwels ‘n laer premie as mans.

An evening of truth! Don’t think you can do it once and just walk away. A drug awareness evening was held at John Vorster Hoërskool assembly hall in Nigel on October 30, 2013 at 18:30. The promoter of this evening was the Centre Of Concern from the Nigel Methodist Church. Reverend Ray Goddess from Heidelberg Methodist Church, who is the task leader of Ministry Against Substance Abuse (MASSA), was the speaker for the evening. During the proceedings Rev Ray shared his knowledge about drug abuse and use. The world we live in today is in a total mess due to our incorrect value system we living by. One out of three people are either using or experimenting with drugs. One experiment with drugs can get you hooked. Only 1.5 % of drug users come clean after rehabilitation. This is hard facts about drugs.

Parents do not always know when their children are using drugs. Parents can be in denial or not informed correctly about the signs of drug abuse. Drug abuse is a wide spread problem and is always bigger than we think. Confront your kids if you suspect they are using drugs. It is for their benefit and for that of your family that you need to do it. A special speaker also shared her experience fighting drug addiction. One wrong choice at one wrong evening changed her live completely. Luckily she found help in time and are since clean from drugs since February 2013. Every day is a challenge fighting the urge. If you have a problem with drug addiction or know of someone who need help overcoming this addiction please feel free to contact Rev. Ray Goddess at 082 656 3123.

Donation for the needy Bophelong Stimulation Centre for disabled children received a donation by the Balfour Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit together with Dipaleseng Local Municipality. On Thursday October 24, 2013, spinach and other vegetables was donated to the centre in Extension 5 in Siyathemba. The centre is currently looking after forty-one disabled children from the age of three to sixteen years and is the only centre of this kind in the area of Dipaleseng. Although they receive funding from the Department

of Social Development, they continue to have needs such as a bigger stove, kitchen unit, a dvd player, tables and chairs, and toys for the kids. The municipality had allocated a site for the construction of a state of the art facility at the cost of Burnstone Mine a few years ago prior to the mine’s closure. Cllr DS Sithole thanked the centre’s management for the good work they are doing for our community, as they assist in bridging the gap for these children that cannot attend mainstream schooling in our area.

“Skryf is in my bloed” vertel Hanli.

Kapings neem toe Kapings neem toe in Nigel omgewing.

SA’s biggest content aggregation app MyEdit, the new content aggregation app from Media24, is now available from the Apple and Android app stores. It is free to download on iPhone and iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. MyEdit tailors content from South Africa’s top publications to match readers’ interests. “The media landscape has undergone a complete overhaul over the past few years,” says Willem Breytenbach. “The consumer’s needs and wants have to be met instantaneously. Due to the mass adoption of mobile devices people are now demanding instant access to their favourite things. “This is how the idea for MyEdit was born. The vision is to simplify the reading experience in an innovative and accessible manner. “Basically, MyEdit allows you to read what you want, when you want it.” The content on MyEdit is aggregated into 20 categories, including news, sport, fashion and entertainment. It is gleaned from more than 40 of SA’s most popular magazines, newspapers and websites. “MyEdit allows each user to explore only the content that interests them,” says Daniël Malherbe. “The experience becomes even more personalised when the user reads, likes, dislikes, shares or comments on the

articles. Simply put, the more you use MyEdit the smarter it becomes at showing you stories that would interest you.” In addition to stories from top magazines, newspapers and carefully selected SA bloggers, users can also contribute to the app by uploading pictures and even their favourite recipes. “The inclusion of the ‘User Contributed’ section was very important because we know how people love interacting with their apps. The aim is to create a MyEdit community that emphasises sharing and discussion around two of our favourite things: food and photographs,” says Malherbe. “The future for digital innovation in the South African media is bright, as mobility and ease-of-access become increasingly important to the average reader,” adds Breytenbach. “Fixed and mobile broadband connections are growing exponentially and smartdevice users now spend more time using apps than they do browsing the web. This trend towards mobile engagement proves that people want their favourite content to come to them instead of having to search for it – and MyEdit makes this possible.” Go to or download MyEdit from the Apple App Store or via Google Play.

Dangerous About a month ago Jacob (not the son of Isaac and grandson of Abraham in the Old Testament) Zuma addressed the Presbyterian Synod in Giyani. (Why a political leader would be invited to address a religious synod is beyond me.) Increasingly Zuma has been bringing Church and State closer and closer. This is not even my analysis; Zuma at that same Synod said that God had made a connection between government and the Church. The President’s irresponsible statements continue to flabbergast me. A few years ago he arrogantly stated that the ANC would rule until Jesus comes. (If

The summer is here! Having sat idle over the winter months it is now the time when your pool should be replenished with water and treated with chemicals. Summer months mark the beginning of swimming season for many swimming pools. Here is what you need to know about maintaining your pool. Using either a wet/dry vacuum or skimmer, remove all bugs and leaves. Remove larger debris before turning on the pump so that the filter does not become clogged. Check the pH and chlorine levels of the water with a chemical test strip or test kit. Remove bugs and leaves daily to make the water clearer and cleaner from debris. Levels for pH and chlorine should be checked at least once a week. Checking the alkalinity of the pool is also important. Alkalinity levels help stabilize pH readings. Aside from the water, other parts of the pool need to be checked. Empty the filter

and skimmer frequently. The skimmer collects many bugs, leaves and large particles before they enter the filter. Check the skimmer daily and the filter every week to empty out pollen and hair. The pump should also be backwashed to clean out any dirty sand particles inside. Daily upkeep can prevent lengthy problems and lengthens the life of the structure. While you can’t eliminate the cost of running your pool, you can minimize them. As swimming pool pumps are one of the top consumers of electricity at your home, it is important to ensure that the pool pump does not run for much longer than it needs to do. Six hours a day is sufficient, though if you f ind that your pool is balanced and still cloudy, you may consider adding a little extra time to create an optimal filtering time. A clean pool is not only pretty, it is also healthy.

12 November 2013 this is true lets pray that it’s really soon). I would wager a bet that Zuma has never read the Constitution – not even once. The Constitution is clear that it does not recognize any connection between the Government and the Church and guarantees the freedom of religion, belief and opinion. In Zuma’s world, he doesn’t understand that there are even people that don’t believe or even care if Jesus comes. Someone should provide him the breaking news that there are even people who don’t believe in, or even know, Jesus and that it’s acceptable as we all have the freedom to believe, or not believe, in whatever we like. History has shown us over and over again the danger of mixing religion, any religion with government. It never turns out well, but then I doubt that Zuma’s ever read any book, let alone a history book.

New school open January 2014 Someone once said “Working with children and helping them to be what they are intended to be, gives me the chance to get up and do what I love to do...Every day.” This is the motto by which the governing body of the new and upcoming early intervention school in Heidelberg lives by. The school will be situated in Jordaanpark and will consist of a mainstream pre-school to prepare children for Grades R and 1 a class for older children who have not managed to succeed in Grades R or 1 in a mainstream school, but who are not considered candidates for LSEN (Learners with

Special Educational Needs) schools and who cannot be accommodated at remedial schools. Together with this, there is an aftercare service in the pipeline, which will be available to mainstream children whom require specialised assistance with homework. The hearts of the therapists, chairman and governing body is to provide a fun, stimulating and safe space for children to grow into the best they can be and to develop the necessary skills to be able to function independently in a mainstream school. Classes will be small to ensure that the children receive the individual attention they require.
