Para ser el mejor en tu especie hay que saber conocer a los principales competidores y a los más fieros rivales para intentar superarlos. Para ellos, se supone, iría también dedicado el título. “Es algo que he soñado cuando era pequeño y no tan pequeño. Pero, desde luego, prefiero ser prudente y pensar en todo lo que habrá que hacer para estar hasta el final luchando. En la Copa Confederaciones del año pasado aprendimos que cualquier tropiezo te deja fuera, que hay que ser humildes y no fallar en ningún partido”. Lo bueno es que David conoce perfectamente el terreno que pisa. Aquel día le cogió el gustillo a la competición y aún le dura. “Espero que ésta no sea mi última Copa del Mundo”. Si para entonces se encuentra todavía en condiciones de presentar batalla, seguro que a Brasil 2014 llega acompañado de su particular cántico de guerra. Se ha hecho muy popular en España y seguro que el ‘illa, illa, illa, Villa maravilla’ también triunfa en Sudáfrica. Aunque lo único que pide para el Mundial que está a punto de empezar es que la gente grite laduma a su paso.
