Architectural Thesis | Living [City/Sound/Land] Scape

This thesis explores a greater understanding of the city as an unbounded “city-scape” in a global context where real and imagined communities are created through the collapse of time and space. A living archive of oral history, narratives, sound-scapes and stories was designed for members of Philadelphia’s African Diaspora. The design acts as a portal that generates new mental images and material forms from an overlapping mutable sound-scape. Design evolved from multi-disciplinary research from architectural theory, anthropological theory, local community organizations, and personal interviews.
