lake Rives was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Growing up, he possessed an inclination towards art and the creative process and quickly discovered his passion for interior design. Today, Blake attends the University of North Texas where he studies interior design and consistently works with software like AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit. UNT gives Blake the opportunity to refine his critical thinking and design skills within a setting of creative freedom. With an unyielding determination, Blake aspires to gain more experience by interning either in commercial or residential design. Blake Rives currently resides in Denton, Texas with his two Maltese poodles, Armani and Louis.

indy Mohr is a former interior design professor at the University of North Texas. Cindy is relocating to Portland Oregon in the summer of 2018 to teach and eventually retire there. Ms. Mohr is looking for a home that will allow her to age in place as well as house a caregiver or rental opportunity beforehand in a detached or semi-detached section of the home. The lot size and square footage were given to me prior to starting this project. The client wanted a single-floor home so that she could age in place peacefully. The home is wheelchair accessible and complies with ADA standards. Major design concepts for this project are to allow for wheelchair

access throughout, maximize natural lighting, incorporate rental/caregiver space with kitchenette, and to have the ability to entertain and seat twelve guests at a time. The clients personal taste is a mix between art deco and Scandinavian design. I blended these two styles by keeping the interior and exterior walls white and overall color scheme light and bright allowing for a clean canvas. The natural materials used throughout the space and minimal design further incorporate the Scandinavian style. Most of the furniture pieces I have specified for this home are of the art deco style. The color that I wanted to stand out in my design is green. I wanted to allow as 8

T

he exterior of the home is something that I played around with for awhile as I do not usually design them from scratch. The plan for the exterior was to create a visually pleasing layout and shape. I designed an unordinary roof shape that I believe helps further distinguish the home as art deco. The color that I chose is a cream stucco with dark wood as accents. The backyard shows the patio that I designed with the same roof pitch as the interior creating a grand area. The patio connects the main

living space to the extra rental/caregiver space. There is no interior connection for both privacy and safety. The windows are something I wanted to pay extra attention, I created large windows with small header windows above them to add dimension. The shape of the windows in the main living area and guest suite are all matching to create balance while different shapes accent the home with small rectangular widows in the guest suite and extra wide windows in the master suite above the bed.

he climate of Indonesia is very tropical with the main variable being rainfall. This is due to monsoons in the region. The climate is broken into two different “seasons”: wet and dry. The dry season in Indonesia spans from June to September and this is the most popular time to visit Indonesia. The rainy season runs from December to March. Western and Northern parts of Indonesia experience the most precipitation; since the north- and westernmoving monsoon clouds are heavy with moisture by the time they reach these more distant regions.

Inside of the sleeping quarters there are 4 bunk-beds each with ample storage space below for personal belongings. The space can be seperated in the center by a curtain or individually at each bunk depending on occupants wants.

Large fresh-water containers are included inside of the container shelter and will supply water for up to

FINAL RENDERING FRONT The relief shelters will be transported from their storage facility and delivered to pre-determined location upon request. Once delivered set-up is easy with tools needed included in the container.

Container A (Blue) unlocks and raises the side latch and locks it into place with tubular steel rods. This creates a covered area underneath the latch. Container B (green) unlocks and releases its side latch downwards to create the floor support between the two containers.

Mesh material for ventilation

The tops of the containers also have identical latches that swing upwards and lock into place with tubular steel rods as well. This allows for ventilation throughout the bunk through the mesh material as well as adds height to the space and gives extra space for the top bunk residents.

OFFICE PROJECT

T

he design intent for the Gensler office is to create an environment that lends to collaboration and productivity while blending professionalism and comfort into one space. The goal for the office is to maximize communication by utilizing an open floor plan with a benching workstation system and multiple areas for formal, casual, private, and open conversation. Lighting is a major factor in the comfort and wellbeing of all employees and will be maximized and shared with this design. Another factor in productivity is workstation comfort; I will be implementing adjustable sit/stand workbenches and large swivel monitors to provide as much visual privacy without obstructing the open plan. The use of organic materials and color pallet are going to further distinguish the space as comfortable,
